Tha'd be a damn shame if you have to keep the suspension stock for auto-x. Nice pictures!

nice! What kind of suspension are you going to go with later on?

My twiddling has led me to about a 1" or 1-1/2" drop just to even out the wheel gap. Whatever I go with will need to perform well in auto-x. I like the idea of some fully-adjustable setups.

I might have to pick up those wheels; any idea what the 16's weigh? (if they're offered in a 16)

Unfortunately, they dont have 16's (Or Id be sportin 'em) but they just released some 17x7 heliums and they are ~13.5-14 lbs, which is still lighter than stock, but the tires will cost more, especially if you compete.

A nice thing about the 15's is its not such a big deal if you go through the tires every year or two.

..or every few weeks:D

95GSR went through a set of Azenis in four weeks. In four weeks we hit the twisties about 4-5 times and a few street races. The tires still work great when bald, but you can get ticketed for having htem on the car:(

That's a nice car. It's in dire need of some rice accessories...spoiler, maybe a couple stickers. Take the front plate and mount off. It is more aerodynamic without and your radiator will get more air hitting it.

Yeah, I just dont want any hassles with the po-po.

I'm gonna take a look at the CTR Spoiler 02SilverSiHB has, and if I like it in person, I might get one. (or I could borrow his OEM spoiler and use it as a template to make my own!!!)

Stickers all go on my auto-x junk box.

The drop is inevitable, but I'm holding out for better dampers to be available.

In the meantime, a CTR rear sway bar should add some stiffness, when it arrives from PolePosition....

Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks, and thanks, aww shucks....

The rims are Konig Heliums with Falken Azenis from Discount Tire... right outside my neighborhood. They have a tread-life guarantee for road hazards and the whole setup cost $960 installed with hub-centric rings and Gorilla spline-lugs.

You can get just about any konig rim from discount tire, and thier stores are all over the south. The Greenlights are ncie. I just wish discount tire would pick up Rotas, they'd be making BANK on those.

I did really good at the practice on Saturday...some people were impressed... but then Sunday I botched a couple of runs getting too wild and experimenting with lift-throttle. :(

My place was 5th, but 3 of the usual top competitors didnt make it (Cone Killer included)...so normally that would put me even lower in the pack. My paxed rank was only 79th place out of 120 drivers...it'd be great to get into the top half this year...

Overall, I learned more this weekend than I have all year, so I'd call it a good weekend despite my low rank, and I met Tuan from temple of v-tec.

Did you upgrade to the 16s just so you could get the 215 Azenis on them? :) GRM keeps saying how their project car really appreciates a wider tire (they compared a 225 BFG to a 205 on 15" wheels I think). I was going to ask for your impressions but realized that your next race will be with the new suspension too so it won't be an apples to apples comparison between the 205 and the 215.

Have fun rockin' STS! :D

BlasTech
02-04-2004, 09:07 AM
I did a practice event on the 205s with the new suspension, and while it was great, I can already tell the 215s are going to be much better.

The 16" wheel really does make a big difference in turning... its much smoother, with less delay...and to my shock, the 215s are much quieter than the 205s

Burgh
02-04-2004, 12:05 PM
So did you get to start on your dial-in of the JICs at this practice? What shock settings were you using?

Being that you're one of the more highly prepped STS EP's out there, do you have any plans of running a National Tour or ProSolo?

BlasTech
02-04-2004, 01:09 PM
I did do some dialing that day, but I plan to start over with the new wheels/tires.

If I had the skills to be competitive in either one, I'd go for the ProSolo over the National Tour... I might try it this year.

Next ont the list: Hondata, Brakes, Lightweight battery, then Im done...for now.
