OK, I'm really interested in getting a set of 17" wheels and tires for my EP but I don't live in the best area for road smoothness. Here in central Jersey there's all kinds off potholes, RR tracks, broken pavement, you name it we have it. Anyway, I was told that heavier cars with softer suspensions can afford to have larger wheels with lower profile tires and still be comfortable but since our EP's are already pretty stiff suspension wise and are relatively lower in weight that larger wheels will make the ride really harsh. I just want people's opinions - keep the stock 15's with better tires or go for a set of 17's? My top priority is to preserve everyday driveability but I really like the look of larger wheels and the advantage in handling. Sorry for the long post.

17" w/ 215/45 tire should give you looks and a decently soft ride....

Or you can go the middle way, 16" with 50 or 45 series are almost as comfortable as stock.

this is good advice.

17" wheels will ride rougher over potholes period. if you have really bad potholes, you risk bent rims, etc.

I personally stayed with 15" when I got a set of aftermarket rims, but my goals are more performance oriented than yours.

17" for looks, compromise ride quality, 16" is a happy medium.

Yep, 15" gives you some more options for tires and somewhat quieter ride, even with super stiff sidewalls. Not to mention the cost and weight savings.

17's sure look nice tho. I personally think the 16" circuit8's are a great balance between looks and performance for the Si.
