Hi, Anyone know anything about this new headunit ?

I like the silver look and it has a built in amp, which is a plus for me. However, I am worried about its mp3 playback capability. Some old decks have annoying delay between tracks. I don't know much about this Alpine, since it is new.

Is there anyone know anything about this ?

thanks

You won't find an MP3 deck with NO gap, it just isn't going to happen (yet). It's actually only about 1 sec with the 2003 alpines though. I just got a CDA 9815 and I love it. It is actually faster than the CDA-7897 I replaced.

I've seen Pioneers be the slowest, and JVC's are relatively quick too.

Is JVC a decent brand nowadays? I was relecutant to even look at their HU's thinking that they were kinda crappy.

Yours is actually one of the fastest, so you're good to go. :D

JVC is alright, nothing to write home about. I'd most certainly pick an Alpine over it any day.

The alpine deck that you are talking about is the fastest one on the market. But still takes some time but not really.

sweet !! Thanks for the info, I am definitely getting one soon.

I run accross this Sony Deck CDX-MP70 Which is good in my opinion. It has an extra features that I like, the shock protection.

What about Alpine compare to Sony's Shock protection. I just don't want it to skip every bump.

Thanks

Sony is good in electronics but in car audio I think that they are junk. I had the MP3 player from sony and it burnt out on me so I ended up taking it back and buying a panasonic MP3 player..but now I want to sell it because I have a MD player.

heheh That's what I tought also. I only have Sony MD player and may be buying a Sony PDA.

but for Audio, they are just geting worse over the years. Not as good as 5 years ago.

Well, I guess I will stick with Alpine.

thanks man.

C1V1C,

I have one that's a few weeks old. I love it, but I'm getting an in-dash monitor/dvd/tv/mp3 player. The mp3s load really fast, and between tracks it's the quickest I've ever seen with mp3 players. If you want to pick up my 9807, let me know. It's in perfect condition since I'm so anal about my car. PM me or email me at bretgorden@aol.com if you're interested.

Let me tell ya...

I got the 9807, and the delay between MP3s is seamless, no more than the delay would be on a regular audio CD. Also, going from MP3 to WMA to .WAV is just as smooth.

The sound is great... Just be sure that you will eventually need to add some sound deadening, new speakers, and a sub to take advantage.

My only complaint about the 9807 is the display. It's too dim during the day and it just about disappears in direct sunlight. The display seems to be designed to be looked at from above, not slightly below which is how it is with the angle of our dash.

I plan on lowering the unit to the lower DIN slot (where the storage pocket is) this will make the stereo slightly closer to my fingertips and it should make the display easier to read.

All in all, I highly recommend it. It ain't as flashy as some other head-units, but it's easy to use and sounds great!
