I have a 2001 cavalier Z24 with many mods. But i have been having problems with her lately so i think it's time to get something else. I am a member of j-body.org so i found the clubsi board on there and i have been interested in the ephatch for awhile now. But can any of you please give me some insight on the performance compared to a z24 i want something as fast stock for stock and something i can find a good amount of mods for . Thanks in advance. I got a quote from a dealer for 17.800 for a 03 si is that about the right price for one.

i can assure you that the SI will beat a z24. My buddy had a 99 or 2000 z24 and its no contest. The Si also handles much better, the over all feel is more solid than compared to the cavalier, plus you have honda reliability.

I actually owned a 98 z24 for about 2 years, maybe a little less. It had rims, dropped, k&N drop in, some weird exhaust. Anyways, it had a lot more torque than the Si, but top-end was poo. My comparison is to an Integra GSR. In both the Si and the Cav I won, but in the Cav I was against a terrible driver (and I mean bad). In the Si I was against a good driver, at a light, and he launched and I didnt. I immediately pulled on him and never looked back (no I didnt destroy him, it was by one car, but still) You will love the Si a million times more than the Cav. The only thing I really liked about the Cav vs. the Si was the armrest-shifter position. The shifter was perfectly placed at end of the arm rest, so I didnt have to take my hand off the shifter ever. But needless to say this is my 3rd civic since and I'm really happy with it.

As a former GM owner... ('95 Grand Prix)

Get the Si! The difference in build quality is like night and day.

Your '01 Z24 had problems? That's inexusable in a 2-year old car.

I had a 98 Black z24 & loved it. In 98 they came with better rims & ground effects than in 01 though. Plus i think you have a 140 hp & mine had 150. Totally stock i ran a 7.1 0-60 time. Thats not too shabby & a shade quicker then our Si. HOWEVER... The build quality cannot be compared, its the little things like materials used... "interior for example" & also take a look at your body panel seams. In a Cavy you can almost put your arm through the seams, not so in the Si. Dont forget that these cars will last forever if taken car of, not like your typical 120,000 gm-mobile:o

I saw some brand new 02 Si today for $15K.

You can't beat the price for the quality of the car.
