I'm wondering at what RPM's do most of the EPer's shift?

If I'm trying to be a cheap bastard on gas it's <3K.
If I'm in no particular hurry it's 3.5K

After passing 4K I figure I might as well redline 'er (which is also every day).

When I'm trying to be cheap it's also < 3K, and usually that's what I use to cruise around especially if passengers are around that don't enjoy being tossed around =P

But when I'm driving, I like to take it to redline for 1st and 2nd then swap gears until it's under 3...basically just so I can feel some acceleration, and then I swap so I'm not breaking the speed limit, and also to save gas =P

mmmm redline....

i know red lining too much is bad....but how much is too much? 5 times a day? 10 times a day? 30 times a day?

it all depens on my mood

melancholy, sad ect..-2-3.5k(not often)
normal..3-4k (1/3 of the time im like this)
hopped up, happy 3-5k (depens on which gear i am in) (most of the time im like this)

MAD, racing ect....ALL THE WAY TO THE LITTLE RED LINE!

Yeah, same with me, i ALWAYS redline both 1-2 gear, unless I have passengers.....

I usually shift between 4k-and 4.5k rpms in 1st and 2nd, and anywhere between 3k-4k for the rest of the gears. Occassionally I shift close to redline or between 5k-6k in 1st and 2nd if I need to accelerate quickly but that's only every now and then.

I always shift at 3.5 - if I'm racing, its 7.1 cause 7.1 is really 6.8

I shift @ 2000-2500 for normal driving. I think the Hondata helps in that respect.

On the freeway, I sometimes find myself shifting at 5000-6000 from 4th to 5th. Not by choice. This car is so damn smooth and quiet I find myself doing 55+ while in fourth (when I should be in fifth) or sometimes I'm in third while I should be in fifth.

well, if i am in no hurry i shift at 3K or bellow, but if i have to get up to speed fast, as in on ramp, i shift 1 and 2nd at reline, then from third at 4000 to 5th. i have read long time ago that by shifting 1-3-5 at redline saves you more gas than going through all the gears. the study was done a VW TDI. also, by downshifting, or simply slowing down in gear, instead of neutral saves you gas too. tested on friends BMW, by just applying the brakes and no taking it out of gear, his economy computer showed something like 90 mpg.
