If you're still breaking it in, yes that's acceptable. Otherwise it sounds like you're not having much fun with it. I'm still in break-in (about 550 miles) and regularly rev over 5000 while accelerating and cruise at 4000 on the freeway. I'm not sure why some of you are following the "don't top 4000" routine for break-in...the manual just says to vary engine speeds for the first 600 miles and avoid full-throttle starts.

Agree on all points except your freeway driving. I drive down the road and vary speed 40~45 in 4th gear. Then shift to 5th and vary speed, then back to fourth.
I need this car to last forever. With the new technology of iVtec I want the most conservative break in possible.
Take care of your baby and it will take care of you!:) I hope:D

shift whenever you hit the rev limiter and you will be ok.

well i shift at 4k almost always, but what sucks, by shifting at 4k all the time, i find that i dont use 4th that much, as soon as i shift to 4th, i shift to fifth to save gas, so maybe i need to shift a t lower rpms, so i can stay i 4th longer, sometimes i skip 4th and go right to fifth, i dont know if this is good or not, so i dont do it often. but when i shift from third to fourth im doing about 40-45 already, so 4th isnt really needed, unless i should stay in 4th until i gt past 50????

I always shift according to where I want my engine rpm to be after the upshift.

each upshift has a different falloff, like the 1-2 upshift is about 2000rpm drop, and the 2-3 upshift is like 1200rpm

so i run to about 4000rpm in 1st, then upshift to 2nd so my rpms drop to about 2000, then when I hit about 3500rpm, I upshift to 3rd so the rpms drop to just over 2000. And i basically keep doing that till I upshift to 5th, the rpms fall to 2000, and then I just stay in 5th.
