I saw your car on one of your post a while back and I've been dying to get another look at those springs!!! I like the fact that they aren't too "slammed" because I am in Toronto and our roads are pretty sh*t. How low is the drop? Is the ride good? You going to get a camber kit or you don't need it? LOVE your CAR!!! Can't wait to see it with rims! Good job!!!

The drop is perfect - especially if you plan on keeping the original shocks. The ride is a touch stiffer but by no means harsh - just right:) . With the Pro-Kit you def. don't need a camber kit - I was in spec for all aspects of the allignment including camber degree so there isn't a problem.

*Update - 17" Heliums and Yokohamas will be here for this weekend so pics are coming shortly :p

Yes - the OEM 15" wheels are wrapped with Yokohama Avid's sized 205/55/15 right now - I love em' so much I'm getiing them for the 17" Heliums too ;)

And yes I work at Sherwin-Williams on Talmadge Rd - stop by some time and we'll chat :)

17" Konig heliums are here and installed but I'm not impressed:'( First, over 60 mph the steering wheel vibrates like crazy and becomes very loose and indirect. Second, under WOT the car veers either to the left or right and does the same under hard braking. Third, the ride isn't bad but man does the car have A LOT more body roll now compared to the 15's - feels like a freakin SUV  I'm so disappointed I want to cry :'(

*UPDATE* - All of these problems are resolved thanks to McGard SplineDrive lug nuts. Turns out I'm a dumbass and thought the OEM lugs would be fine with the new wheels - the seat shapes are totally different :o

Thanks for the compliments guys. Well, I thought about the problems I mentioned earlier and decided to switch the rear wheels with the fronts and...WALLA!!! No more vibration in the steering wheel and it feels just as tight as stock. I assume one of the wheels wasn't balanced perfectly and was giving some feedback through the steering. So since the problem child is riding in the rear there's no more steering hassles. I'm so relieved that I don't have to sell these babies - they make the car look alot better IMO and the weight is even lighter than the stock 15's so acceleration isn't hampered. ;)

I'm sooo glad to hear you don't have anymore problems. The rims look excellant...makes me wish I had waited :D how much do they weigh? 16lbs? can't remember.
When you get a chance you ought to take the car into a tire/wheel shop and have them check out the rear wheels.

Yes - the Helium 17's are 16 lbs and the 15's are either 10 or 11 lbs. I'll definitely have the wheels re-balanced soon - probably at my Honda dealer. The funny thing is discount tire direct was offering this special wheel balancing method called "Road Matching" or something like that for an extra $10 a wheel. The salesman said it takes regular balancing a step further by making them more stable at higher speed. Well if my case is any indication I say its a buch of BS and you guys shouln't waste your $40 bones on it.

Ditto that comment about the wheel/tire combination looking better than expected - I think it looks great - and I'm glad you've fixed your NVH problem with them, though if it were me, I'd be having them inspected and then re-balanced to make sure they're in good shape. Has the body roll issue cleaned itself up? I'm thinking that must've been a psychological sort of issue, what with all of the other issues you had going with the wheels... (that's more of a suspension problem, generally).

Could I request a closeup of the wheels on the car - and some more shots in general? I'd like to see how the brakes look through the thin spokes like that (see if they look too small, etc.). Might have to consider them myself... ;)

Either way, looks fantastic, man... :p

Lookin good! Amazing what wheels can do for a car.

How much did you drop front and rear? It looks like just enough without being slammed.

Man.. everyone from the NJ meet this winter has done stuff to their cars. We are going to have to have a new meet in about 6 weeks when I get my eyelids and wheels on. Saving for tires now.

Well - I guess it was just the shock of feeling something so different but I'm getting used to the handling difference day by day. Initial turn-in is a little slower but man the grip feels endless on off-ramps and other hard corners now :) So yes - to answer your question it was probably some sort of mind trick :D . All of the other issues were resolved with the front to back swap the day after I installed them :) . I'm planning on a killer photo shoot this weekend with better light - I'll be sure to get some closeups but here's an older one in the meantime (looks slanted but its just my camera angle)...

The prokits are a 1" drop all around. The pics don't show the tires that well but there's only about a one-finger sized fender gap (looks lower in person). They are a perfect match to clean up the car's appearance but still keep the shock's integrity.

Yes! The stock Michelins are good for accords and grandma civic sedans but not for our EP's!! Are you reading this Honda??!! I originally went with Potenza SO-3s but they were too aggressive for daily driving in my area (really bad roads). My next set was the Yoko Avids and they were perfect - smooth enough for daily driving but much more grip and sharper turn-in than the Michelins...plus I can still use them for the winter (classified as "High-Performance all-season"):)

LQQKS GREAT! What a difference that one item makes in the shape of our car!

3 Questions:

How much?

Is it a direct fit without shaving?

What does it use to attach?

Thanks,

Craig

02TafWhtSi - did you buy the Konig Heliums from Discount Tire? Online or B&M store? How much for the rims and tires?

Your car looks nice and clean. Any mods on the inside yet?

OK,
I bought the wing from Renova Auto (renovaauto@yahoo.com) @ the beginning of June for $160 shipped. I'm not sure if he still honors that price now but just ask George and say he was referred by Eric from ephatch. The sides of the wing do need to be shaved flat and sealed in order for it to sit flush (otherwise the mounting bumps protrude against the window) - most body shops can do this no problem. The wing attaches via the stock 4 screw mounts located behind your OEM spoiler. The type R uses two extra screw mounts located on the side of the hatch which are filled in on our Si's and SiR's (which is why you must shave the sides of the wing - no way to screw through the hatch). Hope that helps! PM with any other ?'s :)

Thanks for the compliment. Yes, I bought the Heliums form Dicount tire online along with the Yokohama Avids. The total package was around $1200 shipped - I don't have the exact price in front of me. For me, the Heliums are great...nice style, low weight (16 lbs each), and relatively inexpensive. :)
The only interior mods: Pioneer DEH-3400 head unit w/ Metra dash kit, Jujeracing leather shift boot, and the red "H" decal for the steering wheel :)

A little pricey but a quality job. ;)
