I find 1st gear annoying. You get to 15 mph and it's already time to shift. It's useless. Why can't it pull and pull at least to 25 mph?

I mostly shift out of first @ 20-25 Mph/ 30 If I catch it right at the rev Limiter

Maybe thats why My gas mileage is not so great all the tme:angel:

Mongoose is a cool name, I was actually thinking it should be the "official" nickname for the Ep.

Even though we have relatively torquey motors compared to other civics, it's still not a whole lot. If honda designed to the gearing so that you shifted 25 mph at 3000 rpm, it would kill acceleration. You would probably be smoked by a 12 year old on his 10 speed :D .

yeah, i used to grit my teeth every time i was in 1st gear, it was annoying. After I/H/E setup (or hondata i would imagine) 1st gear feels MUCH more, um......."mature" I guess would be a word. Not so off the wall, ya know. Also, how many miles are on yer car? Might chill out a bit as it breaks in.

yea i dont like the first gear read line sneaks up fast. im usally more concerd on the road then the tach so i usally end up shifting really early.

Gotta love how people stare at you doing 15 mph with your motor screaming I don't think they expect you to be moving that slow, haha.:p

No need to watch the tach. I can tell by the engine noise now. ;)

I just needed to wind it out a little more, thanks. I take it to about 5500 and it's a lot better.
