So at the high end, you gained about 25HP? NICE! Good stuff.

Okay now it works, awesome! It looks like you kept making more power until you let your foot off of the gas pedal.

Reeeeaaalllleeyy Nice gains. I can't wait to see with some more mods what it could do. Props!!:p

please tell me that was with the A3 head...

now if you do that with an A2 head with some REAL VTEC and more RPM... yummy..

if you're gonna spend the time and money to make a frankenstein motor, do it with a VTEC head. I mean 25 hp is really really nice, but if you're putting the energy into it... make a K24A2 frankenstein... should be good for BIG gains..

unless you're planning on going turbo.. hmmmmmmm

it is a bone stock RSX-S head on a K24 block

a higher redline will yield much higher gains <---working on that as I type, plus dropping the B-pipe was good for another 11HP...!! but I put up the "apples to apples" comparison plot to show the true gains with ALL the same mods on each motor

what would that compare to on a dynojet????????????

nice tough i would still like to get up with you and show you ours... heard that you have some engine codes that you cant get rid of...... maybe we can help you out.

It shows how much more hp it made over a baseline run from the k20a3 motor.

I'm also curious about how much this would cost.:o

A cost would be nice :)

But, more importantly, how did everything fit? Did you swap the transmission too? We're all dying for details!

Very Well Done man!!! You are pionireering the future of Frankinstain swaps! Sweet!

Keep up the good work!

PS, about how much was this?:o

something tells me they might be trying to advertise this engine work, and won't give us a price until they figure out what it'll cost to do it for somebody else..

as far as those gains go, I'm not impressed. Plot that same graph against a K20A2. You've got a K24A2 vs a K20A3. That's NOT an apples to apples comparison no matter what you call it.

There is nothing in that engine out of our Si. You actually LOST power compared to a K20A2.

Hrmm...hopefully a few tweaks will yield some better dyno numbers. Otherwise I'll be sticking with a direct Type-S or TSX swap.

what the heck is that graph showing?

i wanna see results of the K24frank vs k20a2, or at the least just post a dynojet plot for the k24frank.

errr, ummm NO! I dynoed a RSX-S last week with only the rear can removed, the "Big Block" is about 12ish HP and 18ish ft-lbs higher.
so your incorrect in saying that I "lost" power.

Yes, it IS an apples to apples comparison. The stock SI motor with only AEM CAI and header was dynoed then the "Big Block" was dynoed with the same AEM CAI and header. Other than the changed of long block, all else remainded the same.

Cost: well it depends on how much you purchase the block/head for. Block will run you around 1K-1.5K in most yards and the head is going for $800ish used all the way up to 3K new from dealer.

maybe i can't do math.. your graph compares an SI motor (K20A3) vs your K24A2 frankenstein, right? In that graph, your engine makes 25 more hp than the civic engine peak, right?

Doesn't the K20A2 make 35-40 hp more than the K20A3? How would you make more power than the Type-S like you say, and make only 25 more hp than a civic in the process? The math doesn't add up.

and it's not apples to apples because you used a k24 block and an A2 head vs a k20 block and A3 head.. you should have compared a k24 block with a2 head to the K20A2.. see what I'm saying?

Let's see what happens after it's tuned up, but when all is said and done, i think a turbo would be a cheaper way to generate more power then a swap and a block.

Tekdemon

Umm...you guys aren't realizing that he's comparing the same RPM range...so he definitely has gains over the K20A2 throughout that range as the A2 makes about the same power as the A3 until VTEC stage 3 kicks in...

Once he gets the RPMs higher you'll probably see gains that will be about the same as a direct TSX drop...

Personally I think if you have patience you should just wait until the TSX's start crashing...lol

I have a 2004 Acoord 5speed I4 with the K24a engine. Can I jsut buy an RSX S head and slap it on? How much would a shop charge to do this? I am sure I couldn't do it myself unless it is REALLY easy...Help me out here.

I wouldn't ask except that no one seems to be doing anything for the I4 as the focus is on the V6
Thanks!!

Ok, what would it take cost wise to implement this, and what kjind of gains would I expect? This is exciting news!

Can you please give us some more details. So can we swap an a2 head onto our a3 without a problem then tehcnically we should have a k20a2 without the buttom end. Get high lift aaftermarket cams, etc make an all motor beats out of our 2.0
