even with the 225's, the tires will still break loose for an instant on the 1-2 upshift. but the tires have made all the difference in terms of cornering, braking, and launching the car.

I really like the OZ wheels too. even with the increased width (rim is 1" wider than stock, tire is almost 1.25" wider than stock) and increased sidewall stiffness, the combo is significantly lighter than stock. :D

The yokohama avs es100's are doing well so far. I've put about 7500 hard earned miles on the front set, and that's taken them down to about 60% tread before the wear bars start showing. at that rate, these tires will last me about 37k miles before the wear bars show, which is 7k more than what I got out of the stockers riding them completely bald. So if i run these tires completely bald, i'll probably get over 40k miles out of 'em. not too shabby. Of course, a lot of it depends on how much auto-x'ing i do this summer. :D

That is better than average wear for es100's, you should see improvement all around with those wide angle sweeties on. Congrats! 40k miles is a great wear factor, good luck at the track/auto-x and post your results when you go.

You seem to have doubled the estimate of what the treadlife should be. If 40% of the tires were worn off in 7500 miles, the total treadlife of the tires should be 5/2 of that which is 18750. 1/2 of 37500. Or maybe you meant to type 80%, which would mean 37500 total.

don't forget to factor in tire rotation. the rear tires really don't wear at all unless you carry heavy loads back there.

i ran my front tires to 40%, now i have the two new tires up front with 100%. then i'll rotate. etc etc etc.

i suspect that part of the reason why they wear better than expected has to do with the weight of the EP3 and the fact that there is significantly more surface area for the same weight. That in and of itself will improve treadlife.

Sweet wheels, glad you got a full set now. Do you know what those rims weigh?

edit: never mind. I found the picture of then on the scale :)

Looks great Chunk! Did tirerack include those lug nuts or did you purchase them seperately?

Chunky those look great. How is the ride comfort and road noise with the ES100s ?

thanks for the compliments guys. :D

the ride comfort is good, stiffer than stock for sure. the tires grip really well, are very forgiving at the limit. The sidewalls are pretty stiff even though it's only a v rated tire. yokohama has special sidewall stiffening inserts to help cornering. Road noise is greater than the stock michelins. That's the only thing that's better with the stock tires.
