Hi all,
would you "edu-micate" me on how to go 0 to 60 mph on the '02 Si?
I don't know when to shift, and what gear I am suppose to be in when I reach 60mph.
Thanks in advance.

in His love,
HS

Well, it depends on how much gas you want to save.
3000-4000 rpm is a good place to shift into 2nd and it uses less gas.

And at about 5000-6000 rpm is a good place to shift into 2nd but it uses more gas.

At 60mph you should be in 5th gear unless you are passing someone or racing.

I think it says what mph you need to shift at in the owners manual somewhere but I don't have it here, someone may post it or I can later or you can read up on it. Hope this helps

Ravenings-are you asking about how to go from 0-60mph as fast as possbile in an 02 SI or do you just want to know where to shift to get the best gas mileage?

I know one thing, when I shift at 4k rpm in first I tend to always get left behind by the car beside me which seems to have a longer first gear. I could stretch it out, but then I'd be hi-revving thru 1st and 2nd all the time and I don't want to shorten the life on any of the mechanics of the car by doing that constantly. Does anyone else have a problem? As far 0-60, I get most of my speed in 2nd and 3rd gear. The owner's manual has specs for when to shift, but following those you'll get left behind alot unless you punch the gas quick and shift quick.

Feel the car, shift when it want's to be shifted, you don't need to stay zoned in on the tach to know when to shift, the car's pulls and sounds should tell u just fine.

Just like when your racing, or dragging ect, condtions at the time such as temperature, engine heat, fuel, ect.

That's how i drive at least.

You're an idiot. Just kidding, that's the best advice I've heard in awhile!

do you want to know how to get to sixty the fastest or the most efficient way?
if you want to go fast just shift at 6800 in first and second and you will be there right as you go into third
although i still did like the 99si because it went to almost 55-58 in second before you had to shift/stock 99si/
the ep seems to get to about 50 before you gotta shift to third

I read that we reach 58mph at the top of second with the 6800 rpm fuel cut off....which of course looks like 7200 on our tachs.

This picture was taken directly off the honda website. The car is in second gear. Obviously.

but that picture has the tach at 6100. it isnt close to redline. with another 700 rpm to go I would say about 57 mph at fuel cut off.
