Ok, what tool is being used to remove the 2 90' screws so that I can yank out the stock head unit?

I bought an offset screwdriver and I still can't get it out.

H E L P ! !

I want to finish this damn install! :)

If its the screws i think your talking about you need to take off the ac controll box its 3 screws it think.

If you are talking about the two screws (one facing the glovebox, and the other facing the guages) then you have to remove the glovebox, and remove the underpart of the dash under the steeringwheel. You need to go at them this way, otherwise it will take forever!!! Then the rest of the dash is held in by clips... Hope that helps, Josh

I found that using a socket and 6 inch extension that I bought from Kragen worked the best. Place the socket then the extension and then put on the ratchet and there should be enough room with the glovebox removed and acces under the steering wheel.

use the box end of a wrench.

Alright, I'll go get an 8mm box end wrench, (I don't know why I only have standard and not metric) and I'll try that. I don't really want to take the dash apart for this, but my hands are pretty big and I'm scraping them up trying to get this damn thing out.

You know what I found to be easier for me, was to use a LONG philip's screwdriver, and when you drop the glove-box down, you can slide it on thru, right to those screws.

I used a tiny adjustable wrentch that was originally a toy keychain!!

Actually worked well, the wrench was about 2 1/2" long and really worked! I barely got my hand in there and it took about 20 min to loosen both screws...

heh with my method you can have the whole center console out in 15 minutes, start to finish. ;)

I used an 8mm 12pt box end wrench and it took about 10 mins to get both sides out. (Not that bad)

I finished the install in about an hour with me taking my time and double checking everything.

One problem....I may have left a CD in my stock HU. Anyway to safely get it out without power or is there a way to give it juice so I can eject the CD?

I'm not even sure there is one in there, but I'm not sure there isn't.

:(

steve i believe the underside of the deck has a listing for what each wire is. If you find the 12v constant, that should power it up long enough to eject it, though you may need a ground too.

Unscrew it from the underside and wiggle it out.:D

Why would you need to do that? If you open the glovebox, you can see the two clips that hold it in the "up" position. If you pop them out, the glovebox will fall toward the floor, so you won't need to unscrew anything extra.

The only reason I removed mine was so that it wasn't getting in the way while I was running all the patch/power cords.
