So I'm driving back home from my girlfriends place (500km trip) and I come over a rise and a see a spikey ball on the road... Not enough time to react, so I grip the wheel close my eyes and go aww crap... Who would have thought a porcupine could be sooo solid... $3700 damage, new front bumper, new condenser, new rad, new rad support, and new cooling fan. Take a look at what it did... :'(

:(
I hope your insurance will cover this.

You did the right thing though. People get into bigger prob/accident trying to avoid animals on the road. By the book, you are even supposed to hit the deer!!! Imagine wht that will do to your car!!!

Yup, covered by insurance, $250 deductible and my rates don't go up because it was wildlife... Besides he was in the wrong anyway, I didn't see a cross walk there!:D Also had loss of use coverage so now I have a Jeep TJ for a rental... Man alive I miss my EP. Teehee yup prick, that was one of the many words I called him..

P.S. My ex hit a deer with my last car, a Saturn SC and the thing did less physical damage than my spikey little friend... Go figure...

Yeah, I swear he was a genetic mutation! For the half a second or so that I saw it, it was bigger than any spikey critter that I'd ever seen.. It was big, it was 5am, and I wasn't stopping to measure him. I'm pretty sure he had a smile on his face when I turned around and limped the car back to Saskatoon. That's okay, he got his, and to think I almost felt bad about hitting him, until I saw the damage...

I hit three deer in my Saturn(all at the same time) I had about seven years ago. . .Looked like the Fatboys reunited on my car.
They were spread out over both lanes of the highway and the shoulder. I had no where to go.

So since you have no front bumper are you going to do any upgrades to your body?

I just had to ask that, it is the first thing that gets into my head when I see a crash on this board for some reason.

I would have, but, within a day it was quoted to insurance, approved, and they ordered a stock bumper... All before I even got home to Alberta. Oh well... Maybe next time.. Oh wait hopefully there isn't a next time! :D

I had a similar situation with a small dog. I pulled over to get out to look for his owners but when I saw the damage it did to my Si I said screw it and took off.

jeez people, you're not supposed to hit animals...lol

next time just slam the brakes like hell......don't bother trying to swerve or anything cuz that's dangerous(and people have often killed themselves doing such things)...

Slam the brakes and pray =P
