We just sprayed right over the chrome. It was really really easy to paint after we got the headlights apart.
there arestep by stpe instructions some where on this boards, i think in the how-to section.

The entire job wasn't really that hard.. just very tedious! Just follow the directions provided by the "PROJECTS" section of the board and you will be fine. The job will be much easier if you have the help of friends. Also, the only step that need a lof of attention is the baking part.. We kinda melted the bottom of one of my headlight, but it was still good..
Good luck with your painting!

my question is, how hard was it to drop the bumper? i wanna do mine, but i am kinda wondering how much of my day will be sucked up by doing it, and if its a long project, how much time should i plan for?

We dropped the bumper in like 5-10 min. I saw plan for about 4 hours or so.
The bumper removal will be about 5-10 min,
headlight removal about 5 min each one,
heating it in the oven bout 5-10 min per headlight
and then the most time consuming part is painting beacause you have to let the paint set. after that its just a matter of how fast you can reverse the processes.
Good luck. Consult the "projects" part of the board ( link is at the top) for more info. Thats what we used and it helped a lot.

Use the Clubrsx guide to help you. I did mine in about 5 hours.

There are a bunch of other guides on the site as well, search and you will find what you are looking for. Use the oven meathod to separate the housing, and 200*F for 20 min, and they should come apart not too badly. MAKE SURE YOU SAND ALL THE CHROME OFF, or else the primer/self-etching primer will not stick, and your paint will end up peeling.
