not much insight to give, there are no gains to be had by jumping
on a vtec controller for the ep. The current setup does not lend
itself to a potential power gain. Once you have something that
requires a tune with respect to vtec, such as an A2, then you
may have some chance of opening up the valves sooner. We are
at a disadvantage in that our valves can only open up once @
2200 rpms, then its up to flow rate. With the A2 and Hondata tune
you have a bit more to play with. If I was to buy a vtec controller
I would first upgrade the cams and pistons on the A3. Even then
I doubt that much could be gained. Vtec engagement is more
benificial if it occurs earlier, with the A2 it is delayed until 5k or
more. Some think this is a gain, I think that the sooner the
valves open the more gains you will have...period.

You would be better off spending your money on a power flow
gainer, such as I/H/E, and even then a vtec controller would
not help you, especially with the EP3! gluk.
"Vtec controllers were only marketable when there was a delay
in engagement".
