I was wondering since the CTR uses the same engine as the RSX Type-S why not juss swap the SI engine with the RSX Type-s?

It's possible right? And what would be the appox. cost of doing this?

The engine is anywhere between 5000 to 7000 bones.
From what I was told by "houston" who is a moderator on hybrid civic forum says that they did it in arizona. They had to put the engine in from below since the clearance is bad from above.
It did work however, but my guess in total price would be about 5000 for engine, 2000 to 4000 for labor. A couple of weeks downtime.
or just have a custom turbo built for 3000 to 5000...

I hate to send you elsewhere on the subject
but you may want to post around on the hybrid civic boards and see what you get.

Take Care,

Steven (00sir)

It is a direct bolt in and takes about 4 to 6 hours to do. You need the engine, trans, and ECU. The shifter needs to be modified to get enough range to go into reverse. The car will need to be taken to a Honda dealership to have the ECU reprogrammed to work in the new car. You will need the VIN information from the RSX you got the engine from.

The car is about a second faster in the quarter after the swap.

4-6 hours? That's it? So once you have all the parts you could have the swap done in less than a day? That's pretty easy. I can't imagine paying almost $10,000 for a 200hp engine though.

youd be better off with the K20A Integra R motor but thats just MO

I think if I were to do it again, I would have used a Type R motor. As it stands right now, I will probably modify the engine with some more Type R parts. At least until Toda comes out with their stuff.

You should be able to purchase a Type R swap for around $8000. A Type S swap should go for around $6000 to $7000. I bought our first Type S engine for $5000 and after that, a complete wrecked RSX for about $4000. But this was a while ago, the prices seem to have gone up a little.

Before anyone asks, the second Type S motor is going into a 01 Civic 4 door with our new bolt in kit. I am waiting for the Civic to come back from the body shop to finish it up. The car was a theft recovery.

I do not read or speak Portuguese or Spanish, but it seems to me they are making fun of the fact that we did this and they can buy the Civic already equipped with the K20A2.
