I got the orginal idea from another Member:) :) thanks:cool:
HERE IS WHAT YOU DO.

1. Remove the the shift boot cover.

2. Take off the silver ring and the clip(cap) that hold it together, use a flat screw driver to pry the piece apart.

3. now here is the shit!!!:p :p put the Silver ring inside the rubber boot ...UPSIDE DOWN...and use that other piece to lock it back in .

4. That piece I'll call the cap, is slightly oval make sure the pointed end is towards the front (radio).

5. I even use a small amount of super glue at the point where the silver ring touches the rubber boot up on top and some more super glue where the cap touch the boot.

6. screw on the lock nut from your shift knob onto the stick... you can almost go all the way down with it. You might need to do some adjustment when you screw on the new knob on for the reason so that you can make sure the writing on the knob is straight and the fit is tight.

7. put back the boot . That Silver ring will fit over your nut.

boot is kinda small for short shiftknobs. i think it needs chrome ring like jdm ones.
good job though

More pics of this done!!!
I'm liking it w/out any cheap silver looking ring on top.
Makes it look more like it's right out of a fighter jet :p

Isn't the JDM supposed to come down? I remember looking at some pictures and the JDM comes down showing the acutal shifter. I dunno, that's what I remeber.

yea, the JDM one comes down too, I think you have to put a bolt under it too for it not to come down or electrical tape.

yea i was thinking about shift boots and stuff like that...and rather than accordian/or "bag" style maybe it could go with neither? would that look good? Noo...i dont think so...lol anyways...as terrible as i am with photoshop...i managed to cook up something...so tell me what you think about it!

I say leave it the way it is. the norm leather looks odd to me cause of where the shifter is and how it sags due to location. The oem and jdm one looks ideal imo cause it resembles the jet/futuristic space-craft whcih looks great cause of the abnormal location. ;)

I have, I live like 1 mile from Castle Air Force Base. They have a huge musem...it's actually a great place for a meet...plus the base is abandoned...so there are tons of endless road to race, drift, drive on...too bad the runway isn't open for us to drive on though...they use to train B-52 piolets here...
just watch top gun and you'll see one...it's the thing that sticks out of the floor between the piolets legs, which he uses to control the plane...that's one big reason they said our interrior looks space-aged...cause the shifter looks like it would control a fighter jet.
