Yes. ;)

I've also heard good things about the Sony Xplod series, Orion, PPI, Phonex Gold, etc etc.

I'm wondering how good the Blaupunkt T-class amps really are.

When I go for the subs, I plan on getting one JL 10W7 and powering that from their 500/1 amp...I did some reseach on their amps and found that the engineers that designed the new line were the ones that worked on PPI and Orion amps back in the mid 90's. Id suggest going with JL. Just my .02

AGREE...if you are getting a JL sub, and got the loot get a JL amp...

i have the old school Xpod amps and they power my 12 JLw6v2 GREAT....

or go with a PPI amp

i'm having an Eclipse in dash cd player installed on thursday, and also trading in my current sub and amp for a jl 500/1 amp, and will be buying a new JL sub, probably a W7 in one of the JL boxes, which setup would be the best?

gold si, that should be fun to hear.

What do you have for your other speakers?

the other speakers are currently stock, i will be replacing them with boston rc series by the middle of july, and at least for now running them off of the elcipse deck without an extra amp, which actually sounds really good, and i decided to get the JL 12W7 prowedge for the sub

Cool. For now, I'm planning on a Kicker Solo-Baric (either 10" or 12") in a truck-style box, laid flat in the back. I'm still trying to decide how much power to give it, and whether I should run the mains off an aftermarket head or use another amp.

Hopefully, a custom fiberglass enclosure tucked in the corner will be a future setup. Of course, by that time, MTX or somebody might be making one to fit.

if you are looking at a solo baric, you might want to look at a JBL gti w12, one of my friends was looking to get the solo baric and is now going to order the jbl, i don't know too much about either the baric or the jbl, but i just wanted to bring the other option up.

What size enclosure is recommended for that JBL? I'm going for small-enclosure subs -- I need the space back there.

Isnt the JBL GTi W12 the one with like 3000 watt capabilities? Maybe I am wrong... As for the solo baric, i have heard nothin but praise from the owners... I'll prolly end up with 1 or 2 of em... Could we fit a ported box with 2 12's in our trunk? I dunno how much space somethin like that takes up...

the W7s are the best subs out there (fun demoing an 8W7 in a .5 cube sealed box and having someone think it's 2 10s!) and the JL amps are just plain amazing. Working for a shop, I can get pretty much anything and that's where I always end up.

the W7's are great, if you want a sub that does sound great, and also creates good spl, the W7 is the best choice, the problem when you go with some thing that creates more spl, the sound quality is no where near the W7

Id stick with either the 500/1 or 1000/1 depending on how much you wanna spend and how loud you want your car.

you can either use the JL 250/1 or the JL 500/1, depends how loud you want it, i personally almost went with a 250/1 on the 12w6v2, i would say either is a good choice, it just depends on how much money you have to spend.

Which pushes more.

The 500 is louder. More watts = more watts.

gold si

the 500/1 will be louder and create more spl, it sounds like it will be your best choice, and it should sound really good.

just don't get anything more powerful than the 500/1 or it will just distort, the RMS for the sub is 400, the 500/1 is closest match to the RMS.

or if you dont have the money for the 500/1 just get the 250/1...I have the JLw6v2 12 inch and it sounds great, you dont need to send gobs of watts to it to push it like you do with the JLw7 12 or 13 inch....

I have a 500 watt Xplod amp going to my JL Sub and it sounds GREAT...so i KNOW if you put a JL 250/1 to that sub it will sound AWESOME

I just installed my JL 12w7 with 500/1 amp and its absolutely ridiculous:p ! I honestly have to say unless you are looking to win SPL comps there is no reason to have this much bass. While tuning my amp I had to run inside for a bit which is about 50 ft away and I could hear the silverware in the drawer rattling. I LOVE IT:D

:) Thats great to hear!

The W7 is JUST SICK!

You cant beat that sub for the price you pay...
