It's a widely know fact that the japaneese always make a monster
we can never attain from the dealer, this has been done with every honda I
know of. Some have inported it. Others dream of it. Some
just get lucky. Japan standards always outperform the overseas
shipments. This is what we all strive for, Honda japan knows it.
Even the type-r UKDM is a stretch for us lowly North Americans stock. Makes you and the rest of us dream if nothing else.:D

higher compression ratio, more agressive timing, more fuel shoved into it, higher minimum octane requirement, higher redline, and it would never pass a smog test in the states...

am i missing anything??

that's about right.

the new type-'r motors don't get the hand port and polish that the older ones got. In fact, the head casting for the k20a2 and the k20a are the same. But both the k20a2 and k20a are cast using a finer grain sand than the k20a3 head.

The cams are different too, but I guess thats covered in more aggressive timing. Yea I just realized port is running a type r motor w/ no cat....but I suppose we don't have to get smog tested until what...06? 07? Anyway, are you sure that there is absolutely no way to pass emissions w/ a k20a? Can't slap on hella restrictive piping and a cat to pass?

Are you all sayin' that the k20a can't pass state emissions??? Or just California smog/emissions crap. Basically I curious if us east coasters can dream of a k20a or if were ass out on droppin' it in a daily driver?

Can't pass any legal emissions test, unless you know someone or someplace that just gives you a lick'em & stick'em;)
