View Full Version : Okay, here's some pics of a partially complete Fiber Images (D3) kit on my silver EP

Sorry I don't have the rest of the kit yet. Civicracer had a heck of a time finding a better way to ship the front lip and rear bumper, the shipping was more because of the rear bumpers size. Should be here some time this coming week.

Now, before I would have said I was going to paint the carbon fiber kit to match, but now I don't know, I kinda like what I'm seeing here...here's some pics, and vote on whether you think I should paint it or not...I don't care for the comment: "what's the point of getting carbon fiber if you're going to paint it" That has been said a million times, the point of carbon fiber is weight savings. My point of getting the kit is for looks. Sorry the car isn't exactly that clean. So do you guys think it would look ghetto driving around with a carbon fiber kit unpainted...meaning people might think..."hey, there's some moron with an unpainted kit! Freakin Ricer!"

Just with you having the sides on It looks damn good the way it is!! IMO. With a Carbon Fiber hood it will look sooooo good!!:p

Thanks for taking the pics man!! I can't wait to see the front and rear lips on. I'm going to get that kit!!

Man your car gonna look pretty awesome when u get the front and the rear lip. and add a hood also. Have u thought about upgrading the size of your rims??

Is there anyway you could get a pic with the side of your EP in the sun with the CF lip kit on? I think a shot of the sun shinning on the CF would be a showstoppers worthy pic!!;)

I thought that first pic was good enough :D I'll see if I can get another. I just slap the side skirt on and it holds even with out the screws in...it's that well made for our car.

Don't get me wrong, the pics look great. I just wanted to see a pic with the sun shinning on the side of your EP.

I'm very pleased to hear thats its made well. How many screws are needed to install? Are there any screws that need to go into the side? You know, the part of the sideskirt that is under you I-Vtec sticker?

it's no problem, I think the sun is to much in the middle right now to get a good angle for more light, I tried, not sure if this is what you're looking for. It doesn't take any screws near the vtec sticker. Just in the front and rear, about two in front and three in the rear I think.

one more, as you can tell, I think the suns position is bad at the momment to get a direct shot with the sun hitting the side.

Paint paint paint! It will look so much better painted. I can understand looking at the black and after a while saying, that doesn't look bad but painted will look sweet.:p

I know, it would look damn good painted. Knowing me, that's what I will most likely go with. I have a friend saying it looks good without it painted. Decisions, Decisions.

That looks really tight!!! In my opinion, I would get it painted. Maybe if you had a black Si it would look good unpainted.

Fit looks good, photchop did not do it justice, and of course paint it. (Black Ep would match up well)

To be honest, I am not a fan of the D3 kit. But, painting it would look wayyyy better on your car. Have fun. :)

hey yo how much did it cost to PAINT THAT WING???? because rite now im contemplating on either a wing or skirts have u gotten an estimate on the side skirts paint??? keep me updated

im guessing the wing being painted was like 200 bucks??? or 150

side skirts im guessing if ther fiberglass around 200??? am i right or no i think cf will cost more to paint???? or no

the wing cost 250 for paint, modification, wiring, and installation.
The side skirts are carbon fiber, but I don't think it would cost more than any other type of material. I'll find out probably tomorrow how much it would be to paint them.

It looks like the general idea is to paint the kit, so I will paint it :D

Whatever happened to the fiberglass version of the D3 kit? Didnt they say its ganna be out after the carbon fiber? Where is it? are they still makeing it? i mean its the best looking kit out there below the Type R! hehe:D :D :D

I like the look of the carbon fiber on a silver car. I think it matches up well together IMO. It will look very nice painted also. You can't go wrong either way. Also I think your car would look better if you put the red and amber side markers back on . Those clear markers look cheap IMO. :)

I think unpainted is fine, as long as more than one element is that way (like a hood+sides).

Either way, it looks fantastic. good choice!

roll with it unpainted for a while and see if you like it. if you don't you could always paint it. but don't paint it first because you will always wonder what it could have felt like to roll with a full carbon fiber kit. kinda like that movie serendipity, but different.

it'll only take me about an hour to decide once I have the kit fully on.

I went by the shop and it will not cost more than 800 to paint the kit.

For the person that was wondering, it's about 125 for each side skirt.

so what is this? is it a D3 replica from fiber image or is it the original one? either way, it looks great! i remember months ago about u saying you are done with ur mods for a while after u got ur wing finished or sumthing. now u are going crazy! hahaha:D

D3 is a company that designs kits. They don't sell them. So fiber images took the design that D3 made, makes them and sells them :D Just ask the D3 guy on this site, that's what he told me.

Yeah, I know I'm going nuts...I need to stop. I can't see being able to do anything else. I'm going to start saving for a Type R motor after the kit is on...I sware! :D

Also, if you look closely at the side skirt in the close up shot, you may be able to make out the word fiber images that is engraved in the side skirt.

At first I was going to say leave it unpainted but seeing the photoshop, i'd say paint it. The rims go really well with the car.

The wing....I bought that on ebay, way back, 9 months ago I guess. It was from makatomotorsports on ebay. I had to modify it to fit of course

I emailed civicracer and he said that he's waiting on airborne express to pick up the package...I guess he can't fit the box in his car.

He will give me a tracking number and all that when it's sent out. It better be here by next week. I'm going nuts

Just so some of you know what is taking me so long: (I accidently posted this reply in the wrong post, but here it is anyway)

Well, I'm getting a sick feeling I'm trying to be ripped off. I emailed civicracer again asking where the hell my front and rear lip kit is and he states that:
"its pack waiting on airborne to pick up, it was scheduled by my mom while i was on vacation....its schedule to be picked up

ill send you bill number/tracking asap "

That was on the 25th. I payed him the extra 100 on the 20th (making it a total of 1000 for the kit shipped) to help out for the extra shipping cost he didn't expect.

I emailed him yesterday asking when he thought they would pick it up..no response yet.

yeah, I used paypal. I've bought stuff from him way back on ebay and never had this problem. Part of me wants to wait a little longer, but I feel I've waited long enough. He lives in New Jersey. I even got his license plate number off his site.

MWB 39D in Garden State, New Jersey (as it reads on the plate). He goes to a track in Atco, New Jersey.

I'm probably over reacting, I don't know. I mean the guy even gave me a number: 856-52-iVTEC when he wanted to see if I was interested in a carbon fiber hood. He even has his own business paypal account at acuracy.biz

I just don't know what to think. I'm trying to wait as long as I can, but damn!!!!

got an email from him. He sent the front lip now, but not the rear yet :(

Not his fault, the rear is way bigger and they wouldn't except his box he had it in...it was like 3" too long (man, girls tell me that sometimes) so he's going to try and repack it again. Man this is a pain in the ass.

I know he's telling the truth...once, when I found...yes found a street fighter II front bumper on the side of the road, I tried selling it and sending it off, but the post office wouldn't except it, it was too big, or wanted like 250 just to send it.

How the hell does a company send this shit????

Received the front lip today. I was very dissappointed in how there were scrapes on it, you'll see in the picks. Other than that, it looks good and fits perfect. Now I'm leaning even more on painting it since the scrapes are there.

yeah, civicracer had told me that it wasn't that noticeable 2 ft away and that HIN didn't notice it. We'll see. Because by the time I get it for HIN on the 2nd of August, I won't have time to get it painted. I need the rear asap! :mad:

Sucks that its got scrapes on it. I do like it unpainted though. So Looks like that what I'm getting. Along with a CF hood and CF wing.

yeah, I guess you really can't tell when I step back and take those other pics. I'm wondering if I will paint it...damn, I just keep going back and forth on that issue.

I'd saw don't paint it. Just get a CF hood to complete the exterior. The start saving for Hondata.

actually I think I'll save up for turbo :D my eyes are now on the cybernation kit, and maybe greddy if they hurry the hell up and come out with a kit for our car

I love this kit. I think it is bad-ass. Granted its still showy, but its light and owrth the money. The scraps suck...I would be pretty pissed, but as for painting it, I disagree...part of the reason the kit stands out from others is because it is carbon fiber, why hide that? I like it un-painted, but again thats my opinion.:)

yeah, I don't think I'll paint it right away. If the front lip bothers me enough, I may just buy a new front lip...I'll wait and see how I drive with it :D

:D can you wait about a week? Eric (civicracer) emailed me stating he sent the rear today. So it should be here next week...this way the whole kit will be on and waxed :D It's hard for me to put the kit on right now, as my wife is at home more now than she was...she has no idea I bought this thing! :D

WSUP, NAMES AARIE... I HAVE A 03 HATCH. I WAS LOOKING FOR A CARBON FIBER FRONT LIP, SIDE SKIRTS, REAR ,AND WING. MINE IS SILVER SO I DUNNO HOW IT WOULD LOOK. I HAVE 18' AROSPEED RS-GT RIMS WHICH ARE ALSO SILVER BUT IM THINKING OF SWINTCHING TO GUNMETAL, ANYWAY I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE SI'S W/ THE KIT. IF ANYONE CAN E-MAIL ME W/ A MESSAGE WHERE THEY BOUGHT THE KIT... ID APPRECIATE IT !
