I just emailed D3 about the gauge "pod" they made for their white and black Si. (I'm having a friend here at work scan the images for me so that you can see what I'm talking about.)

They didn't plan on producing them, it was fabbed for that car.

Well, that's not good enough for me. I need that thing since I HATE my gauge pod and I need more gauges and don't want them cluttered about.

I emailed them back asking what it would cost to make it again or if they could at least send a few specs my way so that I could have it done.

We'll see what they say.

Do you have pics of your pod?

That pod isn't even made for my car and I hate A pillar pods. They look like ass IMO.

Did you try in the hole under your head unit?

Too small...there's no way. I just got the pics of the gauge pod I want. Take a look.

They were custom made for that car. I'm inquiring about them now. I want one BAD!

IF you took that picture to any car-audio shop, they'd probably find someone who could make it for you pretty easily... its not complicated at all. A brushed-metal facing would look nice too.

What I wonder is where the cables go from there. Are your gagues electronic (wires) or mechanical (cables)?

Yes. Except the boost gauge but it's just a small piece of tubing that runs from the engine compartment.

Dude if we lived in the same city, we could make one in my garage out of CF and brushed metal. You'd love it. Im thinking of doing something very similar for a shift light.

Man....I wish. I'd like the outside to be Fiberglass with a CF front. That would be hot.

I'm going to see how much a good shop would want for that.

This weeked I will try making a custom pod for our ep . Will let ya all know when I get things started. I gots to go to HOME DEPOT again for more supplies: fiberglass, wood, resin, and bondo... My idea is having it like D3 design but with only 3 pods and will probably insert the front face plate with carbon fiber or stainless steel. I will try my hand at making a mold for it also. DIY can be fun but expsensive$$$$ :( If you have any ideas or suggestions let me know.

I made a custom pod pillar for our car out of fiberglass, I just got a pod pillar from I think a 96-00 civic, screwed it on the factory pillar and fiberglassed. It came out nice, I did a 4 pod pillar though, there used to be a guy on ebay that sells them already made but not 4 he sells them for 3 pods, there is also space for 2 gauges where the shifter is but you have to eliminate the hazard button or relocate it, if you make two holes, 1 on each side, you can fit a standard 2 5/8 gauge

I was thinking of a set up under the head unit but I kind of like the look on the top of the dash there. If the install was nice and clean looking that would be a nice setup there.

steve,
the guages above the a/c, can they be pushed down? To hide them? if so I would consider this, I'm not a giant fan of having them standing out, hidden is my way, but due to the shape and everything of our dash there aren't a lot of options.

No, they're not that cool. ;)

I'll be making (or have made) this out of carbon fiber and brushed aluminum.

I'll get back to everyone on how it turns out.

Can not wait to see what they are like. I always like extra gauges so I would like to see what you can come up with.

I like the gauges. I actually think it's suttle in a way. Not real suttle, but I like it.

While I like the look of the D3, I think this one will work better for me.

It's available in black and CF. I'll be getting black.

true, I don't see myself having four gauges either.
