okay, might be a stupid question, but is there a gear/rpm combination that gives you the most horsepower/torque/acceleration?

i seem to move pretty nicely when i'm in third gear around 4500-5000 rpm? what do you guys think?

Agreed.

peak torque is at 4800 rpm, 90% of the torque starts at 3000. A good, broad torque curve occurs from 3000 to 5000.

lol the horsepower is the same in any gear, but aroun 5500 your car should be the fastest

::edit:: i guess iw as wrong! lol

So that is why my times at the track are crappy. I since I read that the K series engine makes power all the way to red line, I thought there would be no sweet spot. There is none as I don't feel any drop in accelaration against engine rpm. My old Probe GT you could feel the drop in torque after 5500. Do you suggest I should change my shift point to around 5000? I also noticed I had to shift early out of third if not my engine would not make redline to switch to 4th gear near then end of the run.

I feel like a moron. I misunderstood before. The best way to find the sweetspot I assume is a dyno sheet. I got to go get a base line run somewhere....:)

I'm getting my figures from the graph that was included in the '02 Si brochure. Do you have it?

Somewhere around 6k. I know Hondata moved it higher to somewhere around 6.5k.

if you dont take it to 6800 you will be slow --- aint no shifting before redline in a honda

I really have to check my car. I can't get to redline in third before crossing the 1/4 I have to shift it like 1000 to 1600 early.

I just got to try different shift points.
