I'm looking for the pic on this forum that has a black EP with stock wheels in the front and 17's in the rear. He did it to show the wheel gap that the 17's create. I tried looking for it in the Members Rides, but the list of post is damn long. Anyone know this member's name atleast. Thanx.

Nope-haven't seen it. But my 17's(205/40's) gave me a 3 or so inch wheel gap.

17's will not give you more wheel gap.
IF you get the right sized tire.
205/40/17 is NOT the right sized tire....for a pre '01 yes.

Whoa look at that gap. i didn't think it would make that much of a difference. makes his 17" look small.

it's the tires that make it look so small... def. need to lower it

other than the fact that it's the wrong size tire for your car, there is nothing wrong w/ 205/40.

but why would you purposely put the wrong size tire on your car when the correct size is basically the same price.

*that* is the question.

*less wheel mass* I haven't had any problems running 205/40's, which is amazing since they are the wrong size for the car.

if you're so worried about *wheel mass* why did you get 17's?
15 or 16" would have been a better choice there.

as far as not having any problems, if i were you i'd make sure i wasnt overloading the weight capacity of your tires, otherwise you could have a serious problem down the road.
not to mention your throwing off your speedometer, your getting worse gas mileage, and increasing your chance of bending/cracking a rim by using a shorter tire.

just fyi:
215/45/17 or 205/45/17 is the correct size for your ep.
but you probably knew that.

Worry about your Ep-not mine. You already knew that. What you don't know is that my wheels and tires were free, and that makes them OK in my book. Other people on this site run the same series I am sure.

I have 205/40/17's on my car. I wish they were 45 series tires, but the wheels were used and they came with 40 series tires. So I'll just live with it. It sucks that my speedometer is off.

How would I be getting worse gas milease? I would like to know about this.

speedometer is only off a couple mph by 60...
gas mileage decreases because you're effectively changing the gearing of your car by having a shorter overall diameter.

Hey guys, just reading along with this thread...ya, that was my baby before I dropped her, a while ago. I do believe that the gap was a little more than usual also due to the fact that the E-Brake was set and the car had not "settled" down after putting the rim on, but you certainly get the idea. I put my Nuespeed race springs on and she looks perfect.

good luck.
