I think I will apply for a job in Sweden so I can get one of these. I hear Sweden is a nice place to live...:D :D

p.s. I still think they will bring these to North America (but in extremely limited numbers)

That's it, torture your pals. And this comes a day after you posted Honda's planned 2003 auto line-up which did not include the CTR.

Does anyone know what the powerband on the Type R looks like?

What stereo does it come with? Does it have a moonroof? How much does it cost?

Great pictures. What kind of stereo do they put in the CTR? What is your powerband? I'm assuming it's the same as the RSX Type S, is that correct?

Glad you like the pics.

In answer to your questions SN,

The stereo in the CTR is an Honda OEM single slot CD deck- it's not very good, neither are the speakers. I've hooked up Honda's disk changer and put it into the trunk.

The Euro spec CTRs powerband is at 5800rpm to 8400. There is a distinctive VTEC changeover. This is fed to the wheels via a 6 speed box, with ratios that easily keep it into the powerband.

I don't know if these US models are different- but a Euro BMW 330 with 231 BHP has an almost identical 0-100 (about 16.5 secs), as does the 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX.

CTR tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE040, 205/45/17s.

Standard 1/4 mile times are about 15- 15.5.

The JDM version has a helical LSD, a Momo steering wheel, different interior, thinner rear glass, remapped ecu and I think a different manifold- resulting in about 215bhp as standard + a little Union Jack to signify the built in UK.

thanks for the info, 10 pence short.

It seems like the Civic Type R's engine is very similar to the RSX Type S.

Snubnose- The unit in the CTR is essentially the same as in the RSX.

Speedracer, the CTR does not have 'darkened' headlights.

Pisshead, I assume you already know how lucky you are to be able to walk into a Honda store and buy a CTR? Great looking car.

Can someone give me a link so I can buy factory direct the powerplant, tranny,ECU and anything else needed for a conversion(guages)? I would like to buy a type R engine and tranny combo. I am sure they available over the counter, as if somebody blows one and needs a replacement its there.

Yea, I can get you to the United Kingdom website: It's Honda.co.uk. From there, there's a customer relations window. I'm sure you can offer to buy the parts, but I'll be astonished if you are able to buy what you want over-the-counter for shipment to the U.S. Additionally, because the engine's not certified for sale in the U.S., even if the Brits screw up and ship it, you'll never get it past U.S. Customs unless you certify that it's only intended for sanctioned racing events or exhibition. Violate those restrictions, and the engine, tranny, etc., will be confiscated and shipped back to Britain. You pay the bill. And, if you think that the NHTSA and U.S. Customs aren't on the lookout for this sort of thing, you're wrong.

The other LEGAL alternative is to buy an Acura Type S engine, tranny, etc. At least you'll end up w/a U.S. certified motor. There's another thread on this, but I think that the front engine craddle on our Si's is different from the Acura Type S. All said-and-done, I'll bet it would cost at least $10k to buy the parts involved.
