last night on the dyno I got 157.1hp and 129.0 tq.. This is with injen intake, Hp header, custom exhaust... thats it...... The exhaust made a huge difference.. Stock it dynoed138.2, with the injen intake it did 142.8, and then with the header and exhaust it picked up 14.3 hp....

Ah, Ha I knew that the injen intake wouldn't give the car 15hp. that's what everyone is trying to say around town!!! There's no way to even get one w/o calling NOPI and then you can barely get it when you want it because they're so damn busy. Does anyone else know how to get a Injen w/o NOPI or paying out the @ss for one?? Presh, and hey, congrats on the HP gain, I'll be there soon!!!!:D

What was the stock torque at the wheels??
Oh yeah, and can you feel an increase or decrease of low-rpm torque after the mods?

Satin Si
06-21-2002, 07:25 PM
Whoa, that's a pretty good increase. I was thinking about putting custom piping in. Better stop thinking and start doing.

have you run your car at the track since your mods, or stock for a comparision? how much was the hp header? what size piping did you use on the catback? what muffler? sorry about all the questions, but ive got to get some hp figures like that

miamijdm
06-22-2002, 07:15 AM
trust me when I tell you guys, the injen intake does not give you more than 4-5 hp to the wheels.. its not bad but its not no 18hp...
With the injen I ran 15.84@85mph at the track.. The hp header costs somewhere around 175.00. The custom exhaust was done with 2.25 mandrel bent pipes and i kept the stock muffler.. You guys will shit when you see how restrictive the stock exhaust is and how restrictive the resonator is... The stock muffler has a 2.25 inlet so its a pretty good flowing muffler.. Sound is kick ass.... thanks..

I ordered my Injen cold air intake off of NOPI this mourning and it will be here by wed./thur. Hot damn.:D

Did you change your cat? and if I understand correctly, you added a Cai, headers, and new piping and kept the stock fuffler. If so...Kick a$$!

miamijdm
06-22-2002, 02:16 PM
no i didnt change or remove the cat yet... Thats my next mod along with an 02 simulator... By the way, I didn't put a CAI i put a short ram with a heat shield... thanks

uh, sorry to sound like a total newb, but uh, what's an hp header? is hp the brand? where can i get this header because i want it?

2002Si
06-24-2002, 01:25 PM
Yeah, where did you get it for 175.00

fishboy
06-24-2002, 05:47 PM
did you use the header for the rsx?

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&ebaytag1code=0&query=hp+header

miamijdm
06-27-2002, 03:17 PM
the header was from the base rsx..

fishboy
06-27-2002, 03:21 PM
sweet, thanks. i have been waiting for that reply for a while now. 200 isn't bad i think i'll get it. any trouble getting it to fit?

miamijdm
06-29-2002, 07:49 AM
the header is a real simple bolt on.. Took us like 30 min to install on a lift... on the floor it would probably take 1-2 hours... thanks

SiCivic2k2
06-29-2002, 01:29 PM
Is this the stock headers from the RSX or is it aftermarket? Where did you purchase it from? Do you feel any noticeable difference in power? Thanks!

miamijdm
06-30-2002, 10:41 AM
no its not the stock header, It's an HP header made for the base RSX.. I didn't notice the difference that much, but im sure it helped when I did the exhaust.. I think you can purchase it through NOPI. thanks

Hey miamijdm, what were your original dyno numbers??

DynaSpeed
07-03-2002, 11:36 AM
Wow... with the mods you lost 3 lb-ft of torque? I didn't see your originals, I'm just going on factory stock specs

2002Si
07-03-2002, 11:39 AM
Well torque to the wheels is lower than claimed torque so he probably gained, you just need to go to the Injen website and look at the Toyota Matrix dyno run. It's really the Si run, they just mixed them up. That will show you the actual factory torque. He probably gained about 4 ft. lb.

miamijdm

the power comes on pretty late in the powerband, bone stock with the 15" wheels i dynoed 138, then i put the injen it went to 142.8. then i put the header the exhaust and it went up to 157.1. I think it would be a little more if i had kept the 15" wheels, when i did the 157 I already had my 18" rims... Im going to try it soon with the afc to see if i can lean it out a little.. i should get at least 6-8 more ponies.. thanks

Keep us updated. Anyone know of a pre-fab intermediate pipe (Aka, I-pipe, aka B-pipe, aka that pipe bewteen the cat and the muffler section) our for the Si/SiR yet? I'd like to whump one in and keep the stock twin tip muffler. Not many exhaust shops 'round here do much work with mandrel bends, so a pre-fab one would be ideal.

miamijdm
07-04-2002, 08:13 AM
hey hondatech, that center section along with the afc are my next mods.. I made a deal with HP, that they gave me the header but i have to make a jig for the center section.. the only problem is that I don't want to cut mine out to make a jig.. They're going to buy a new one at the dealer so my buddy can make a jig out of that one.. It hurts, list on the center section is $1109.00.. damn.... lol

thats the hp power to the wheels that it makes
the motor actually makes roughly stock 160hp to the crank, but once all that power comes down to the actual ground through the wheels its roughly around 138hp, so he is making very very good hp gains with just intake, header, and custom exhaust piping, 157hp to the wheels is almost the same HP made just to the crank. and his torques is awesome also. I cant wait for mine.

I have an appointment to get a new mid-pipe tomorrow, 2.25 inch mandrel bent, could you tell me if you put a new aftermarket resonator back on the new mid-pipe or did you skip it althogether ?, any help would be greatly appreciated if you could reply back quickly thanks very much.

do you have sounds of your car? with intake and exh?

CleanBlackSi02
09-01-2002, 01:33 PM
At what RPM/gear is the sound loudest? Is it louder if you're heavy on the throttle, or is it consistent regardless? Any insight would be appreciated!

SiCivic2k2
09-01-2002, 01:41 PM
I have a custom cat-back and intake and it's definately gets louder at higher RPM's. Doesn't matter what gear your in. You keep it at or below 3,000 and it's not that loud, but as soon as you floor it, it gets deeper and louder. The intakes on ours cars is different the the old VTECs. Whenever you floor it, no matter what gear or RPM you're at it gets deeper and the VTEC seems to be kicking in. The only time I can hear my VTEC is whenever I have the pedal to the floor. Otherwise, I can't hear it.

Well, I was actually referring to miamijdm's setup with the STOCK muffler. I'm sure the sound you're hearing is highly affected by the universal muffler.

SiCivic2k2

He left the resonator out; as did I ;)

But you have a Universal Muffler...I may want to keep my stock muffler....

JSIR

he left the resonator out, as did I, with the stock muffler it works perfectly fine, with an aftermarket muffler it may be much louder though.

2k2SiGuy
09-03-2002, 10:11 AM
How is the sound with the stock muffler and no resonator???

JSIR
09-03-2002, 10:20 AM
sound is about as perfect as you can get, better than any aftermarket system IMO, not much louder inside the car, but nice throaty sound outside of the car, perfect.

2k2SiGuy
09-03-2002, 11:11 AM
Great... I might give it a try...do you have any sound clips??

SpeedRacer
09-03-2002, 11:24 AM
i have 2 1/2 piping and a titanium veilside anyways i dont have a resonator i was thining about putting the resonator back on to make my car a little quiter at low RPS's but is the resonator going to make me lose power?

MoodySi
09-03-2002, 11:45 AM
the resonator is that little suitcase muffler in the mid section of the exhaust, right?

JSIR
09-03-2002, 12:00 PM
Speedracer, I would not use the stock resonator as it necks down to 1.5" inside - tiny, but you can get an aftermarket performance resonator for the 2.5" piping, should help quiet things down, and you don't loose any real performance if you get a decent resonator. Check your messages, I want to ask you about the performance of your exhaust., gonna send a message right now.

I don't have any sound clips of my exhaust. I would compare the sound to that of a Probe GT, if you've ever heard their exhaust, I would say they are kind of similar. I've always liked the sound of the Probes from the outside. 1

miamijdm
09-04-2002, 12:24 AM
definately don't put back your stock resonator.. find an aftermarket one that is free flowing and will be the same inside diameter as your aftermarket piping... just my .02 cents...

zacmatios
09-11-2002, 03:57 PM
is the hp header 2 piece or 1???

JSIR
09-11-2002, 07:15 PM
its one piece as is DC and Comptech.
