Well...finally landed an EP3. So now, how the heck do I change
my username?

All stock, so I won't bore you with too many pics:

I'm not sure if we can change your username or not, I guess I'll ask DTH if that is possible. So...do you miss the power you had before?

It's late, so I'll try to make this quick, but I'll have a more detailed
write up of my first impressions later.

First, the torque curve on this is much nicer than my (mostly stock)
wrx. No turbo lag, no sudden "Oh s*%&" feeling. That can be
plenty of fun on the open road, but a pain in stop/go traffic.

I already miss the drop-from-5K-and-no-tire-spin launching
capabilities of the awd, but this ep is pretty fun so far (still
under 100 miles...). I can definitely feel the weight difference.

So, to answer you questions, yes, I already miss some of the
power. But this car isn't *that* much slower (I ran a couple
14.8's in my wrx) and it'll save me a lil' $$$ in the long run. As in,
I'll save up for a Subaru Legacy B4. :p :p :p

Thanks for the kind comments, fellas. Will hopefully be adding
some tint and removing the badges soon...

p.s. I can just re-register...or I'll donate $5 to the site for
a name change ;) (they do that on nasioc...w/ almost 40K
users, name changes are a pain...lol)

EDIT: Subliminal...here's a shot of the "Suby":

Performance wise - I dunno. I did buy an RSX-S sway bar that
just came in yesterday, so I should be installing that this
weekend. Probably an intake (either short ram or my own
hack job) after that.

Long term plan is a K24 with a nice turbo kit. But that's long, long,
looong term. ;)

Civicvtec1ps,

to be honest, I'm not even sure. It's the darkest legal here in
FL, which is I think 25% in the front and 35% in the back. maybe
i have that backwards. heh. it's enough for me - keeps it
semi cool during the day and i don't ever have to worry about
removing it.

OK, couple new pics.

Now riding on Tein SS coilovers. Comptech cat back and eBay hi-flow
"cat". Base rsx shift knob ;). What else...oh, SPC camber kit and
AEM CAI.

Thanks for the comments, fellas.
Japan, I may have you host a small vid for me, but I need to find
out how to upload it first (stupid Win2k ;) ).

I really like the Comptech - It too me a little to get used to the
noise, but it's not too bad. I haven't ridden in a Hondata-flashed
car yet, but I can definitely feel gains, especially up top, and I
don't seem to have lost anything in the low end (1st/2nd still chirp
just fine).

I thought about adding a header, but I ended up getting the coilovers
for cheap and that left no $$$ for header. Plus, I'm not sure I want
to lose any low end and the headers seem like they all do that. I
dunno, I might add them post-Christmas.

Otherwise, I really like the mods and definitely enjoy the difference.
The AEM CAI is kind of a pain, though, to clean the filter you have
to take the wheel/fender off. Oh well, could be worse.

I like the coilovers a lot. Really negated any sort of body roll,
they are a tad stiff but the damping is adjustable (height is too,
of course). And, I got them for $650, shipped. Can't beat that. ;)

Car looks awesome. Drop it little lower. I sold my tein ss for $550 to trade in for ep. (Just had to do it!!).

Thanks Civicvtec1ps. I'll probably drop it a little lower when I get
back home (I'm back on bizness away from the car), but at the time
once we installed it, I had to drive to NC. I was wondering how
high others had set their coilovers at, though...

Zero Three, I lucked out and got them barely used off a guy on
honda-tech (and here, actually). He gave me a great deal b/c he
needed tuition money.

why did you trade your wrx??does the wrx faster in long run or ep is faster in long run? i know wrx is faster in quarter mile but not sure if you race the wrx vs ep starting in third gear or second gear.

WRX was too pricey. I bought it in June of 02 (they had come out just
3 months earlier) and got a bum deal on it. I put 40K on it in two
years, so I got my money's worth and had enough.

WRX > ep3 in terms of speed in almost every way, if you were to mod
both. Top end, even stock, in my ep3 is similar to the stock wrx,
though. I used to run 14.4 at 94 or something like that in the 1/4
mile and it used to quit moving around 120-125 (takes forever to
get up that high). The ep3 is a fine car, fun to drive.

Andy, those wheels look filthy! Looks good man. I'll have to swing by this week and take a look in person. I didn't know they had a polished lip when you described them to me. Nice job.

Don't get me wrong, the WRX and Si are two different cars. One's
AWD, which helps in handling and in any type of bad weather conditions
(it was great lining up next to a FWD/RWD car in the rain and knowing
they wouldn't keep up, no matter what), but also makes the car heavier. The WRX also seems to have more potential at the moment (in
the 1/4 mile), as several have run 10s/11s and many, many are in the
12s. The Si isn't there yet.

In my case, it just came down to $$$ (and insurance $$$), so I had
to get rid of it. I'd love to get another one someday (or even better,
a Legacy B4).

Yeah, pedals were a pain. I just need to rescrew them down so that
they are lined up better. Also will have to pull the grip tape off
and put some more on, in a better design or something.

I haven't really gotten on the car hard too much (family is in town
for one and two, I've been trying to let the tires kind of break in),
but just coming to work this morning, it felt a tad peppier. I'm
anxious to go back to Bithlo now, but I want to put the motor mount
inserts in. If you fools want to help with that, you're more than
welcome. :)

I haven't updated in a while.
Newest mods are the X-brace (can be seen in a few other threads), headlights (did a while ago, just didn't take pics) and the GrilleCraft grill. I might wash it here in a few mins, so please disregard the dirty-ness. ;)
