I'm new to ephatch and I've just got a quick question for everyone. I just picked up my 2003 Si Today and coming home from the dealership I noticed that the car ran at 3000 rpm at 60 in 5th. Is that a little high, or does everyone get about that same rpm range? Thanks!

Lol yeah... This thing's great. I gave my girlfriend a scare when she had to really punch her z28 to keep up with this thing.

Oh ok, 3k is about normal? Thats cool. Still doing really great on gas so far. 65 miles on my trip and i've only killed a little over an 8'th of a tank.

Yea the high RPMs take a little to get use to. I am use to a few of the V8's are my house were you cruse at 1500. But you will see why in a little after your brake in the engine the good point of the high RPM's since you can hit peak HP realy quick in the lower gears.

Word. The beauty of this car is you can have all the torque you need, whenever, and still be cruising efficiently. I got 36mpg cruising w/AC on at 65-70 mpg - that was at about 3500 rpm.

Welcome stranger. Hey that's okay my current car [90 crx/jdmb16] is at about 5000 rpm at 80.. So I'm in vtec on the freeway almost 99% of the time.

High Rpm's and Fuel Consumption are things you will have to get use to. Fuel being my hardest to get use to. The car is not a pig but it is harder on fuel than most Civic. Congrats and you made a wise choice with the SI(R).

Thanks everyone. This car is pretty rare down here... (Saint Mary's County - Southern Maryland) and I get a lot of looks around town at night.
