what do grounding wires do? is it just for looks?

02SilverSiHB
07-08-2003, 07:41 AM
civic boi, it gives better throttle response. Some cars benefit from it more than others. It seems to help our a little more.

Spoon Sports says " grounding kit for the engine. The grounding kit reduces electrical noise, thereby smoothening power delivery and improving throttle response. The reduction in electrical interference helps improve the efficiency of the engine, reclaiming lost power."

If that helps. =)

Just wondering a few things. First do these replace the OEM wires or are these just add on wires? Also since I live up north were they use salt on the road how well are these protected for getting salt and other junk on them.

I can not order this weekend buy maybe next one.

happies713
07-08-2003, 07:58 PM
yes they will include an instruciton sheet when i install it on an ep this week.

these add on to your stock terminal. just like your stock wires corrode, these will also show their wear and tear due to the environment they are put in. i keep my engine clean, and have had the wires on for 6 months and there is no sign of corroding, i live in california.

07-09-2003, 09:02 AM
wow another fellow newcelica.org member!! coool, small world!!

fitment will be very good, but some slack will be given to enable you to grounding different places if you perfer. loose wire should be tied with zip ties.

3rd point form the negative to the Intake manifold
4th point form the intake manifold to the engine mount grounding point.
5th point form the engine mount grounding point to the Valve Cover.

install is very fairly simple, remove and replace bolts, and zip tie wires so they dont move around too much. you can use the stock negative terminal clam. no specail clamp needed.

hatch boy, if you want a kit. PM me. =) thank you.

I have the Sun hyper Ground System installed.

connection pints

Wire #1 - Battery to Driver side Body (Behind Battery, where honda grounds too body, replace screw with longer one, but save this screw for wire #3)

Wire #2 - Driver side Body to Fuel Rail ground (under Vtech cover)

Wire #3 - Fuel rail ground to Valve Cover (Back Left Corner, where there is a missing screw on the valve cover, use old screw from Wire #1)

Wire #4 - Fuel Rail ground to body ground on Passenger side

Wire #5 - Not installed yet, Looking for a spot on the Head or block somewhere. Waiting for first oil change to put it on a hoist.

Any suggested points???????????

Pictures to follow.

IMO Even with only 4 wires installed, i've notice a better throttle response on launch, and can now squawk the tires when shifting into second gear at 6000 rpm shift point.

use the point where the user manual tell u to put the negative wire when u need a jumpstart. that point is grounded to the body of the car. must be good, since the dealer tells u to ground there ,heheh

no need, I didn't. just make sure you don't touch the positive connection when u are holding the negative. other than that, you'll be okay.

to bad my setup and your setup is different. I mean out ground points. I could give you my ground point measurements, but I dunno how they would react to dyno. I definity feel a difference from stock to now with my ground points. No slack also mean you cant really play around and switch ground points.
