Go You!

You are on the ball, MY Honda dealer didn't even know about the GFX package... Until I told them about it!;)

Let us see some pics of that thing installed! Also, tell us the differences between the GFX wing and the replica CTR wing of yours!

I went to inquire last night about the GFX wing

the guy at the parts counter was dumbfounded that I knew of it and he didn't. They didn't even have it in their system, or in the books.
He did a part # search at Honda and found that he had a kit in stock...he was very shocked. The kit was for a black SIR that just arrived at their lot. He didn't see why I coouldn't place an order so he put it in and told me to call today to get an estimated date of arrival. I called this afternoon and the guy (a different guy) told me that they had set the wing aside for me..yahoo..I picked it up after work.
Not sure if they were supposed to sell it to me but what the hell...

very cool guys!

Differences are that it is factory fit (no modifiction neccesary)
looks of the quality you'd expect from a genuine honda part (made in Japan)
tail light is a little shorter, but it looks basically the same.

Hey Jester, if you can... Could you take a pic of the underside? Just wanna see what a USDM fitted wing should look like under there!
Thanks!

On a side note...I'm FREAKIN pissed!!! On my way back to work from my dinner break, I see what looks like a white EP with a wing (Just like mine). As I got closer, I noticed the EP has the entire new GFX package. SHIT!! So much for being the only suped up WHITE EP around here. SHIT!!!

A post in a different thread stated that you have to drill a hole for the wires. I was hoping there was already a hole with just a grommet in it or something.

part # was posted on another thread but here it is

08F02-S5T-350 (350, I believe is the paint code for black)

totally plug and play as you can see by the pics

It comes with a bunch of other stuff for the install, like
a foam peice, 2 peices of black Tint, and a template for something
waiting for missing instructions on these peices...anyone know?

honda couldn't find any. (says instructions not included on the box, apparently you need the whole kit to gain access to them..or so they told me)

there is a plastic plug that I think needs to be punched
I'm gonna have to look at it tomorrow when I get some light:)

Drilling I think. If its plastic like you say in your above post, that would be cool :) I would be nervous drilling thru metal.

TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES!! :D

If I remember correctly, JSIR and myself had to drill through metal to install our replica wings. We needed a hole to run the LED wire through.

put the wing on tonight!

just couldn't wait.
I got to see 2 GFX SIR's tonight at the dealer
the mechanic went over how to instal the wing (very cool, because I got the PDF from honda and there are 7 pages of instruction, most of which are just precautionary steps, and the other's aren't that straight forward.)
I had to drill a hole with a 7/8 hole saw:eek:

yeah that's almost an inch in diameter...big freakin hole, but it had to be done for the plug to fit through (which it barely did) I somewhat took my time and did a fairly tidy job with some touch up paint and the whole bit. looks fantastic..man I wish there was someone else there to push the brake light in and out until my face hurts from smiling at it....

Now is the time I should tell you that I got in shit the last couple of times about working on my car in the underground late at night (land lord is a real asshole) so I'm already on thin ice....I did the whole thing at the carwash down the street. It was raining so i just backed her in to one of the stalls:D
took a long time because I spent an hour fishing a bolt and wahser out of the metal deck lid.

oh and for you's that are interested in the OEM skirts...they are mostly clip on with 2 screws in the front fender...they dont look that bad but JDM is where my heart is
;)

is the break light already in the wing?? or did you use the one on your car?

very very nice...im gonna call my honda dealer to see if they can get me one..if not ill call canada to see what they can do for me

SmoothOperator

the light in the wing is a completely different shaped light. It comes with the wing.

the JigGa mAn
07-11-2003, 11:09 PM
cool...so did he just have to make a hole for wiring up the break light??? also whats the diffrence between this wing and the CTR wing price and apperance?

SmoothOperator
07-11-2003, 11:17 PM
Looks about the same to me. VERY similar. After taking my replica wing to a body shop for modification, and painting, the wing cost me about $600.

The OEM wing costs $505 after taxes, comes painted, and will obviously have better quality I think.

Jester
07-11-2003, 11:30 PM
OEM wing is plug and go, meaning that you have to drill a hole almost 1 inch in diameter with a whole saw to get it through:eek:

yeah I did it and loved it.. like Monster Garage shit drilling a hole that big into a new car:cool:

the JigGa mAn
07-11-2003, 11:35 PM
just to make sure on what im thinking is right you drilled a hole in the wing correct? or the car?

You have to drill into the car so you can get the plug into your car and plug it into the 3rd brake light plug.

Did a 16,000 Kilometer service for my SiR today at a Honda dealer a short drive from Kingston .

Had a Vibrant Blue Sir with GFX kit mounted and ready for the lot . Car was parked in service bay and manager told me to go take a look and see what i think .

Nice package .

After a few minutes of chat we discussed availability of kit components . He had a Honda Canada dealer bulletin indicating dealer cost 304.00 each CDN all components each (cdn funds ) and a suggested retail of 499.00 to 505.00 for various kit items .

Side skirts in OEM -JDM Milano red were/are already on order from overseas .

Dealer quickly recognized that GFX package items were not made available in Milano Red anf that if i ordered i would have to have painted of course .

Cut me a great deal on rear spoiler , bumper skirt and front skirt for 380.00 per item . Items stock at Honda Canada Montreal . Body shop i have close friend at will paint/refinish these items and perform installation . Will coincide with install of the side skirts .

Local dealer to me would not let items go for less than full retail , so do shop around , some dealerships are hungrier than others .

I went to my local Honda dealer during lunch today and got them to check on the availablilty of the wing in silver. He noted to me that the paint color code is not the same as that of the 2002 SiR's. Does anyone out there have a silver 2002 SiR that has purchased any of the GFX components (in silver fo course)? If so how well does the paint match?
