AEM just made the V2 for the RSX type S and they stated that the V2 for the BASE RSX is also coming so hopefully we can expect one for our car too.... :D :D

here the linke web link (http://www.aempower.com/press_events_detail.asp?aid=22)

In the site they also said that the average gain for the type S is 18.5 HP....... damn.... got to see some real dyno numbers before i believe it.... oh well... just le everyone know....

18 hp is alot for an intake. That was a bold move by them comming out and claming 18 hp ... I would have come out and said like 13-15 and then if it was real with 18 I would suprise everyone and be like BAM 18hp. I will have to see the sheets on 18hp!

The one for the Type-S should fit our car just fine. I have an Injen short ram off an S. Fits perfectly.

I heard that the V2 Sucks compared to the AEM CAI Version 1..........Thats what i hear form 99-00 Si owners, the V2 is just hype...? Maybe correct me....

yeah V2 pretty much is just hype and simply way too expensive for the 1 hp you gain over the orignal. TPR tested a bunch of intakes and actually injen two piece cold air intake performed the best, and its a hundred dollars cheaper about.

The V2 is also an SRI, it's not a cold air intake that positions the filter outside of the engine compartment.

import tuner had a intake test on the rsx type s and the AEM cold air produced an extra 20.7 hp to the wheels. So thats 2hp over the so called better then the original CAI intake a.k.a the V2.

i hope u're joking here... you actually believe 20whp from an intake? plz tell me you're joking. plz plz plz... to believe that.. is down right. foolish.

i'd like to see them hit those numbers consistently under diffferent conditions. wont happen. so more real would numbers would be better

The Type-S really responds really well to cold air intakes. That Import Tuner test also had the Injen CAI producing similar (~+20HP difference) increase.

Unfortunately our EP's don't responds as well. :)

Ok so V2 is a sri? Where is the filter element located in the engine compartment?

Here's the V2 in the Type S

http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=82627&perpage=25&pagenumber=16

You'll see it's not a CAI, really a short ram.

Its a SRI.......

I dont know any SRI being able to give 18hp and 13 torque...... its like getting a CAI w/o worring about water......

but then again its for the type S... i wouldnt know if its good unless they come out with some numbers for our car or the base model..... got to wait and see...

I was looking around and i found this. http://www.coximport.com/store/24-6105 its says it s for our cars. Dont know how true but it says it.

i like the mugen box wonder what the gains are??

This design creates multiple frequency sound waves that help charge the cylinders with more air throughout the entire rpm range.
Never knew that AEM discovered a new branch of physics
can anyone explain how this works?

so in your guys's opinion what would be the better intake, aem v2 or injen sri with heat shield? That is a fair comparison seeing as they both are sri supposedly.

I just wish they would come up with a bypass for are car. I did look on their site and under Cold Air Intake Applications they have the V2 listed for are car.

Is the V2 a quiet intake? thats what they claim on the web site.

this thing is different then a regular SIR.... the way it bent is totally different. Injen SIR only make like 2-3 HP and it cant compaire to the V2 its totally different. IF this thing is true about the 18 hp then u wont need a CAI with bypass.... Its not quiet either.... instead of being loud its more of a lower tone then a regular intake. like a hum....something like that

The dyno sheets are on AEM's site and can be downloaded as pdf files. Yes, they do claim 18hp increase for the V2 with a peak HP number of 182.2. The dyno sheet for the CAI claims 12.7hp increase with a peak HP number of 180.2. All you math majors out there should be saying WTF? right about now. The answer is that their baseline number for the V2 test was 164 while the baseline number for the CAI was 167 -- different days, different cars(?), whatever.

Along with a larger increase in HP, the V2 seems to have a smoother torque curve than the CAI based on the dyno sheets.

But all of this is for the K20A2, the A3 will not respond as well since it's upper rpm breathing is limited by the cams, exhaust and lower compression.
