Could someone anwer this question? Since the K20(Si) and K20A3(SiR, rsx-s) motors are so similiar, would it be possible to swap a few essential parts in our(Si) motor with some rsx-s parts(JDM)?i.e.intake manifold, cam gears, pistons, other internals. it seems a few parts could be swapped but I'm not a motor expert. Can you even buy JDM internals?

hehe, uh, you might want to switch the things youve got in parenthesis.

The K20 is whats in the type S and the SiR, the A3 is whats in our Si's.

As far as swapping out parts, If it was that easy I think the guys on this board who have done the full swap might be able to explain why they paid 5k+ instead of just swapping out parts. In other words, if it was that easy, why would they have swapped?

actually, the SiR is the canadian version of the Si and also has the K20A3. The RSX-S has the K20A2 (200 hp) and the JDM Integra has the K20A (220 hp).

Hold the mass confusion, batman. (Here comes some more, though, probably).

IIRC, the K20A is what's in the JDM Civic Type R.
The K20A2 is what's in the RSX-S.
The K20A3 is in the Civic Si, Civic SiR (just the Canuck version ;) )
and base RSX.

The main differences between the A2 and A3 are the heads,
cams, crank, pistons and a couple other things.
With the right parts, you can successfully put an A2 head on
your A3. But at that point, you might as well go for the whole
transplant.

I'm not so sure on the differences between the K20A and A2.
PoRT would know. There might also be more information over
at k-series.com.

EDIT: Damn, Tenacious beat me to it. ;)

You don't have to be jealous of SiR, we have the same engine that you have. The car is almost the same. rsx-s, on the other hand... you can be jealous.

Negative on that.
CTR = K20A2
RSX-S = K20A2
ITR = K20A
Si = K20A3
RSX Base = K20A3

Damn, you're right. I meant DC5-R (RSX-R), but put Civic.
I knew I put that disclaimer in my post for a reason... ;)

i just got into this argument with my friend and we had a bet... so i said the type r had the type s engine... but he said no.. and showed me the japan website.... and showed me a graph that showed the power....

so i looked and it said it has 160 hp but... that woudl be same as base engine..

http://www.honda.co.jp/CIVICTYPE-R/suspension/index.html

see if anyone can clarify that for sure that it is the type s engine?

I thought only the CTR in Europe had the K20A2 and the CTR in Japan had the same K20A as the ITR
