I'd give it a 4 or 5. It is not as good as the wife's VW Monsoon stereo in her Golf. And that one is not perfect either, lots of room to improve.

Can you explain what parts of the system are good and what are bad:)

I'd give it a 7.
It seems like the stock speakers can't handle much from the stock deck.
I'd switch them out for 4 new speakers (not sure of size). What will that run about 175-200 ???? for decent ones that are way better than stock

I give our systems a solid 4.

maybe a 5 considering it has a theft deterrent system. don't want anybody stealing my stock deck....( note the sarcasm in that)

Definately no higher than a 5.

Even my Focus had a 6 disc in-dash changer, automatic volume control as the speed increased/decreased, automatic protection from clipping, a removable security strip, and significantly better sound.

Sure, everything else about the car sucked... but still, I miss some decent things like the stereo. But as a whole I'm glad to be rid of it--it was a lemon.

i may end up buying some new speakers then well
ill have to judge for myself but it sounds like its either average or somewhat below average quality

I would rate it a 5.

I have been told, however, that the speakers in our cars are very good! Replacing the head unit with a higher wattage one is supposed to work wonders!

I will let you know soon, as I plan to install a Pioneer DEH-P8400MP as soon as crutchfield or metra stock the dash kit (about a week or two left).

I give it a 3 it sucks! my 1992 plymouth duster POS had a better stock system I think it goes by the same rules as the tires though, Honda isn't going to dump crazy money into their stereo system because most people go with a performance sound system in their car ...and for those of you that don't hahaha i laugh at you

Many people had to tighten screws in the rear (right) speaker, the stereo is adequate , good placement on the front speakers. if you want to make yourself deaf, you will have to up grade. 6/10

Or does it sound better after the speakers had broken in.

I would've rated it about a 4 to start and now its in 5 or 6 territory.

you all have to be kidding me...

3? 4? 5? 6?

hell no. this is onee of the best systems ive ever heard. just because it doesnt vibrate your neigbors windows and makes your ears bleed means its bad. i give it a 8, because it can sound alot better :)

It's decent for stock, espeically in this price range, look at mazda with the MP3 though (or the new protogee or whatever). Also, try some truly high end stuff in luxury cars. Our stereo is nice, but nothing to write home about.

You know the scale works where 1 is bad and 10 is great, right? Wanted to make sure you didn't have the scale reversed....

Like I said, the stereo in my old ZX3 was significantly better, and that car was a POS! Honda can do better.

for those who have heard the system in a RSX-S(the bose one..) which one do you thinks better? like what are the differences?

Mikael

An 8?!!!! No way!!! The stock system in my mom's Windstar is better! The highs are fair but the bass is non-existent. Take out one of the speakers and look at it and it won't sound so good to you anymore. They weigh about as much as a cookie.

I guess I can give it a 5 cause it sounds decent once you ditch the HU. I saw someone is putting in a Pioneer 8400. I put in the Premier version and it very noticably improved the sound. You'll be pleased.

Still, more work must be done. the rest of my system will be in there soon. By the way, I don't know if you guys have looked at it but it is going to be a bitch to put in aftermarket speakers (though if you love your music, you must.) Some serious metal-cutting or custom work will probably be required even to just put in new 5 1/4s. The tweeter housing doesn't appear to be too accomodating, either. I may be wrong. Anyone done it?

It gets an honest 5. And only cuz it comes with a cd player. So tunes are BEARABLE till you upgrade to an aftermarket. Thank Honda for at least giving the stock speaker size 6.5 both front and rear though. Thats a big positive.

Will you let us know how it sounds w/ the new unit, and what model you got?

Thanks. :)

I would give the stock speakers a 3 and the stereo a 5, The system working together a 4

After my stereo install I can say the car "Sounds 100 times better"

imho I feel the front speakers are better than the rear, after running them with a different head unit, the Alpine 7897, not a low end deck by any means, they do sound alot better. I still would replace them later, but they are not totally sh*t. The rear speakers are full range garbage, replacing those is a must. I feel that if stock is cool. Stick with stock, if you want good sound, get a whole new setup, otherwise its pointless. If you replace the speakers with the stock head unit, you are still going to get poor sound quality. If you want to go my route, get some hight end compontent speakers, an amp to power them and run all power from amps, not the deck, this way there is always clear sound. Im rambling. :)

I give it about a 6, I find it to be fairly above average compared to many stock head units. I sill plan to upgrade my deck in the summer though

Werd to that rating... 3 solid- looks nice, doesn't sound good at all.

Did you guys/girls know the stock head unit is made by alpine? I was looking on slhonda the other day and saw that new the headunit is $450!!????????? I replaced my speakers with alpine type r's and give the system as a whole a 7. Honestly who really cares about huge systems anymore? I did when I was 17, but I'd rather have the stereo in my house now instead of the car. ;)

I give it a 5 . . . my rear speakers rattle . . . I'll have to try tightening the screws, as someone stated. I can't wait to get a new system though, so I can hook up my sub that's just sitting there. Also, I am an EQ freak--that's why I love Pioneer headunits. :D

depends on what your looking for. for normal music its perfectly fine. if you like loud music, replace at least the speakers it will sound waaay better. 8 for stock head unit. 5 for stock speakers. 9 for stock hu and aftermarket speakers. kenwood/cerwin vega/lots o amps....priceless :) i don't listen to my radio loud much, but its nice to know its there in case some trunk rattlin POS ricer thinks he has a system, tee hee

Ocelot

mmmm much better!

I just tightened the rear speaker screws. now I can turn it up, even with the bass up, and no more "brrrreeeeee!" coming from the rear. Just like a new stereo! :D (at least tide me over until I can afford it.)
