Just stopped by Drivers Image. I pretty reliable shop IMO. Anywayz i told him i was waiting on the Greddy Turbo Kit to be released and he said it would be soon. Then was like "Well, let me find out for sure.." He picks up the phone and calls Greddy. They told him he could order it now and have it when its released which is 2 weeks from today (7/24). I asked him about price and he said it retails for $3500, but he can do it for $3000. Couldnt get any numbers but just thought it was somewhat useful.

That's good news! I'm not to savy on the whole boost thing but I know that the more products out there means more selection for us and good prices.

I'm just wondering if Greddy kit can be used with Hondata flash. I have talked to Matt at Hondata and he said that it might work with the kit with low boost level.

Since our flash has timing advances, it might be bad for boost application. I know that fuel mapping will be done by the preprogramed e-manage but not so sure about timing.

Does anyone know if it can be done or not. I'm really considering getting this kit later and I hate to waste my $600 Hondata flash if I have to reprogram stock flash for turbo.

Thanks

Thats great news on the greddy turbo kit!!!

As for the Hondata reflash, I heard that it is not good for boost. But I also heard that Hondata is working on a reflash program for FI. And that if you have the current reflash program, that it would only cost you $50 for the reflash of the FI one. Don't quote me on that though.

Hold the presses, if your willing to spend 3k on a turbo kit and only
get 50 hp @ 6.5 psi? and Im sure it's upgradable to the 450 whp
they advertise but why not do a swap for the same price or less and get the same
gains. Then do the FI. Someone tell me my logic is wrong. This seems
like a turbo starter kit imho.

Where do you find a swap for 2650?

$2650 turbo = 50hp (EASILY upgradeable to 100hp)
$4000-6000 swap = 30hp + $4000 turbo = $8000-10,000

Hmmmm...i think i'll just stay A3 and go turbo, not to mention that the A3 is more turbo-friendly, and the 5-speed tranny is better for boost due to its longer gearing.

I was glancing thru the new HCI and it was saying the Greddy kit will feature a new banjo fitting for the oil return line so install should really be easy with the kit. How easy is it to upgrade to 100+ hp gains? The price is great for a starter system, but how much to get it running with the cybernation and other kits out right now?

Adding an intercooler to the kit should net additional HP gains from 20-50 hp.

Yeah I don't see any reason why we could not get 250whp with this kit, the intercooler kit(type 24), and run 9psi. Thats my goal. 250whp and I'll be happy.

I had the Greddy kit for my old '96 Civic EX. I ran 14-16 lbs of boost with 110 octane (daily boost was 10lbs). Never had a problem.

You guys are calling the Greddy kit a startup kit and it very well could be, however, when you swap a new motor in your EP, come get me, I'll turn the wick up and I'll show you why not to swap instead boosting :p

The intercooler will not yield 20-50 horsepower gain unless serious boost levels are used. I would estimate 15-25 depending on the boost level. An instant 15 is easily done with stock (6.5) boost.

Anyway, I've ordered one of the 2 kits from Showstoppers! Damn I'm excited.

Do you think it would be safe to run the Greddy kit with the intercooler kit at 9psi daily? What kind of number do you think it will make?

With the stock boost for the SOHC kit (5.5 lbs) even with the intercooler, the car didn't feel that strong. But with 10 lbs it was a a different monster. 14-16lbs of boost it was a freak. I imagine the "hot" setup wilil yield around 50-60 hp range. With the intercooler you could expect around 65-75 range with stock boost. With more boost, more power is available obviously. I was thinking of having spearco make a air-water intercooler for the Si instead of getting Greddy's air-air intercooler later.

All depends on the $ they want to build something for me.
