I am looking into picking up a 2003 EP3 to replace my 93 del Sol Si as my daily driver.

A friend who has an EP3 mentioned that he has a problem with the car stuttering when shifting into 2nd gear when he doesn't get on the throttle harder. Seems to happen when going in to 2nd gear between 2200-4000 rpms.

I checked another BBS and there are a couple of threads relating to this issue, but no real answer.

Anybody on this board have this problem? Is it an ECU issue?

Is Honda trying to get it resolved?

Thanks for the help.

It's not that big of a deal, after you get a Cold Air Intake, you won't even notice it.

There is a flat spot in our power curve around 4000rpm that sometimes is fairly noticable. Also our 1st gear is very aggressive, so a short shift into 2nd can make a bit of a stutter. I notice it on occasion, but not every time, which makes me think the ecu might be involved.

i always thought that was just the way i had released the clutch. it happens to me maybe once or twice a day but i figure once i get a performance clutch it will be fine.

I definitely notice the stutter in the morning but it goes away within 10 minutes or so :)
