Well, 2 1/2 weeks later and $1036 lighter (after shipping) I have finally received my Mugen Sports Suspension. Bob from King Motorsports (http://www.kingmotorsports.com)
was quite helpful and the sale went very smoothly. I plan on installing them within the upcoming week and will have a FULL review. Until then here are some pics of the kit : :)

WOW! You dont hear those words in the same sentence very often, "King Motorsports" & "helpful". I'm still surprised.

I'm glad you had a good experience with them but I think I have spent a fair amount on Mugen products and I still get treated like shit from them.

Personally they can suck my left....:D

What are the spring rates on both? etc etc?
If you go TEIN you will get to choose your ride height, where the Mugen is non-adjustable.
I'd still go Tein for ride height adjustability.

It sure is a great price for Mugen and full strut replacements!!! It's just $300 more than Konis and Springs!!!
I just don't think the drop will be quite enough...... but for those looking for a slight drop and a major improvement in handling, I think the Mugen setup will be hard to beat. Need to see how the car looks with them, and reviews!!! Can't wait!!! :D

Could you please weigh the Mugens now since you're not installing them for a few days? If you've got a bathroom scale, it's best to weigh yourself and then weigh youself holding a front shock and then again holding a rear shock. Thanks a bunch.

They do look sweet!

Can you measure the distance between the lower shock mount and tie rod attachment point?

Congrats on the purchase. If I had the money, I'd get these too.

Will you be installing these your self or having someone else do them? I can't wait to see some pics of them on your car.

Oh yeah, any idea what sort of metal they are made out of?

This (http://ephatch.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16719&perpage=15&pagenumber=3) was posted about a week ago. I believe they say it's heavier but by the looks of it it's the perfect drop IMO.

I will have to save for them, I'm defenetly going with the Mugen set up.

Ok,

(each) Front assembly - 23 Lbs.

(each) Rear assembly - 10 Lbs.

Me - 158 Lbs  (gained 3 Lbs.)

My uncle and I will both be installing them at his house (I haven't found a single soul out there who has more automotive knowledge than this guy ;) ) I assume they are steel but I'm not positive. They seem too heavy for aluminum but call King Motorsports to make sure - they should know.

OHHH I love these !!!!

Quick question O2Taf , are the front Mugen struts labeled a specific front passenger and front driver ?

SiMPLE_SiMON

They are steel. Thanks for weighing them. Hopefully you'll be able to weigh the stock units on the same scale that you used to weigh the Mugens.

GRM was running spring rates close to the Mugens and were forced to switch to softer springs after a while due to the ride. That was with Koni dampers though.

I measured the stock stock shock (bottom to tie rod attachment) and its 10"

That means that lowering the attachment point .25" is all thats needed to eliminate our bump steer problem. I wish there was a way to fix it with our stock shocks:(

This set up seems like a good deal. Anyone know what the warranty is?...is there a warranty? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mugen doesn't have a warranty right?

Gasp23
07-31-2003, 06:13 AM
That's my concern about the warranty. Is there a warranty on the parts? I want to do the mugen set up but I'm afraid abou the warranty loss and if there is some sort of warranty with this set up.

No specific indication - they can be used on either side.

As for the warranty, contact King Motorsports. I didn't ask when I ordered them but I'm not too concerned.

How low is the drop compare to stock?

02TafWhtSi
08-02-2003, 07:01 PM
Thanks alot Endless! The Mugen kit comes 100% assembled and ready to bolt right in. Easy peazy, Japaneasy.

Thanks Greenguy! Too bad I'm not doing this in Ahwatukee so we could go carve some canyons but maybe someday I'll be back...:D

Raiyo - The Mugen kit lowers the Si/SiR 1.4" lower than the stock ride height. A good aggressive drop. ;)

raiyo
08-02-2003, 08:25 PM
I dunno what to do, Tein Basic or Mugen. If the Mugen runs 1.4" lower than stock, that sounds good to me, cuz that's the height I want. As for Teins, I like the idea that I can change the height, but i'll be going with 1.3-1.5" height. God.... I dunno. Teins are 150 cheaper than Mugen.
