Does anyone think that if I changed the intake and exhaust manifolds on my new 02 Si, with the intake and exhaust manifolds from a Type R...that maybe it would be beneficial in adding a slight bit of horsepower, not much but it woul help correct?? Second, would it be a safe mod???

It would be a safe mod. People did it all the time with the B series motors. Think about this, the RSX non Type S has the same motor as the Si yet makes about 10lb more torque. The only difference I have found is the intake manifold.

Can anyone tell me whether or not an intake manifold could be the difference between 10lb of torque?

just a thought, but does the type r manifold have the 2ndary runners in it? I dont think we have that in our manifolds, therefore im assuming some wiring/ecu changes may be needed to control the 2ndary's to open up.. but i could be wrong --joe

Our intake manifold is a single runner just like the type-s the base RSX has the dual runners. The 10 lbs of torque are a result of the type-s compression ratio not the manifold.

nono we arnt talkikng about the type-s why does the base model rsx have 10lb more trq?

That's what I've been wondering if they are supposed to be the same engine. Somewhere waiting to be freed up is 10lbs of torque.

The 10 extra lbs/ft has to be from the dual runner intake manifold and the fact that we have 2 ballancer shafts and the base rsx has none. That and the different grind in the cams sounds like the whole difference to me.

I didn't know the cams were different. Thats good to know.
