View Full Version : Damn calipers !
I sprayed some degreaser type shit on my rims and sprayed them off. I then take a look at my calipers and they are orange:mad:
Should I repaint and throw a high temp clear coat on it ??
Thanks for any and all info
Anyone know if clear coat will protect it against further problems ??

What the hell kind of degreaser did you use??? How can your calipers actually change color like that???
Did your rotors not change color too???
I painted them red with high temp paint two weeks before this happened.
"Should I repaint and throw a high temp clear coat on it ??"

So this is why they turned orange (since you painted them red before). Not sure about re-painting them, but this is a good reason to not paint the stock calipers...lol!:D :D :D
This is obviously not the calipers fault, but it's the paint that you used to paint them with.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Does anyone know if a clear coat can hold up against the degreaser? What comes with those expensive brake painting kits?

No, A clear coat would not be any good against what you're using. The caliper paint isn't entirely at fault, it's also the degreaser--Did you use an automotive brake cleaner type or those "ultra formula" oven cleaner receptacles?
Buy "G2" caliper paint, it's a brush paint system that will withstand almost anything you throw at it--I've had it on my car for almost 9 months and it still looks new!

wheel cleaner has acid
acid and paint dont mix well,no matter what type you use. --just leave the calipers stock. --joe
