I have the choice of getting a new EP Si or 96-00 Hatch and putting a B18C into it. I'll also have about 3k left over to put into car the swap after I install engine. What should I do?

Personally..... EP i think the new K series has more potential than the old B Series do...

Just get the Si and you will have everything right out of the box. You can get the EK and swap the motor, but you wont have the power windows, moonroof, EPS, 4 wheel disc brakes etc. etc.

But there would be a huge speed diff, and I like how the old VTEC hits. I dont know Ill just have to think about it.

hey man, if you get the EK w/ the B18C you'll NO DOUBT go faster and w/ the 3,000 left heck you can get into mid to low 12's all motor or FI. But if I had a chance to get an EP, I'd definitely go for it. Why? Because YES it's new, and YES it's unique. I bet very few years from now, those people that doubted the EP or put them down w/ all that "mini me" crap will be jealous(if they already aren't) or probably be looking for used EPs. I remember when the 6th gen hatches barely came out, I was like wtf is that!?! Everything was made bigger and heavier...but in a year or two especially after seeing the EK9 Type R, I was in awe of its potential. So my suggestion is listen to the echoing voices of those EP owners...."buy the EP...buy the EP..." :p

K20death,
I wish I had your problems:D I'd go with the EP as a matter of fact just about everyone on this board would go with an EP. We all bought one. So the anwser is going to pretty much be a universal "buy the EP". Besides with an EP your getting a new car. You never know what an older car has been through. I'm one of two in the 16th largest city in america. Pretty unique. I see plenty of older civics with engine swaps. Pretty common.

Dude, your asking this question on an ep site. Go to a different site and ask. I'm sure you'll get different responses.

Some people can be open minded, hopefully you don't answer with ep just because you own one.

K20death,
I think it all depends on what you want to do with your car. If you're simply interested in 1/4 mile sliptimes then by all means get the EK and do the swap.

If you're looking for an overall car that's a LOT more refined, then get the EP. If you ask me....the EP's got a touch of class that the previous hatchs lacked.
