View Full Version : To 18's or not to 18's... That is the question!

17's arent bad on this car, but it seems as though any 17" rims with a lip makes the wheel look too small. 18's with rubberband tires will look sharp on this car but i wouldnt want rubbing which seems to be the case from the people with 18s in this forum. Is there a way to go about this without rolling fenders and not driving a 4x4?

if you want 18s you can do it. you need to pay close attn to the widht and offset though. those two things are very important in choosing any wheels. our stock specs are 15x6 45mm offset. i am currently running 17x7 42mm offset w/215-45-17 tires and have no probs. im not sure if too many quality wheels companys have 18s with a width any smaller than 7.5.

So you're saying i should be alright with 18x7?

18x7.5" with either a 42mm or 45mm offset will also be fine with a 215/35/18 tire.
I have lowered mine with Progress springs (spec'd at 1.8" front / 1.5" rear) with NO rubbing at all...with either set of rims.

I also tried it with the rims from my Integra...Pic here: (45mm offset)

18s are too big imo..
17s are probably biggest rims i would go on ep3.

18' = too heavy and clumsy. Go with a lightweight set of 16's...no performance loss AND look great

17's seem to be the best size for the ep imo. however, i have seen some members rides done up on 18's and thought they looked nice

Yeah i wouldnt mind putting 17's if i found a set of rims without the lip. But it seems as though any set of rims with a inner star seems to small on it. But then again I dont want to give up performance for looks. Maybe I should just settle with the 17s..

I like my 18s. No rubbing here with 215/40 rubber 18X7.5 42mm offset Zigens w/ rear camber kit. I am running the rear in the yellow when measured to the factory spec. with just slightly more negative camber.

I just like "Big Wheels" (ever since I was 5 years old). Damn EP ain't THAT fast to begin with so WTF.

it's not the size of the wheel that matters so much as the size of the tire.

i'm running 225 wide tires with no rubbing. they are a little smaller than stock in terms of diameter though. what you really need in order to run 18's is a 35 aspect ratio tire. a 225/35/18 would be perfect.

there are quite a few tires in that size. and it will definitely give you the "rubberband" look you are after.

just make sure you buy some 2 pc wheels so that you can replace the rim when it gets dented. ;) Preferably a forged center and a spun rim.

just for comparison, stock tire diameter is 615mm, the 225/35/18 are 614.7mm in diameter.

i think 18's are nasty. too big.. dont expect to be quick anymore. i think 16's are the best imo as well.

Oh yeah, i like 18"s. they look pretty good on our car... I will prolly go 18"s, but might go 17"s, depending on the wheel...

IMO 18's are perfect. I'e gone thorugh 15's, 17's and I'm now at 18s. I have 18" Racing Hart C4's with 215/35 tires. These wheels are actually lighter than stock. As for speed, I have noticed that I am a little slower on the start. Dont think you wont be able to move, I can still chirp them pretty nasty in second gear, I'm stock. I hope this helps.

I have 18x7.5 with 42 offset. 215 35 tires no rubbin. No camber tho. they're not all year round wheels so. They handle like you wouldn't believe. Skunk 2 RSX coils just about burried.

18s look downright silly on an EP, but that's just my opinion. 17s are as large as I would go. I think 16s look the best, and they can still perform.

I have Racing Hart C2's in 18x7.5 with Pirelli 215/35 tires on it and it is dropped on Tein S Tech Springs 1.5in all around. I have no rubbing even with 3 people sitting in the back seat. I have not noticed any type of loss (i.e. Power or speed). IMO 18 should be the biggest you should go on our cars.

I just figured you can't be too performance oriented. (just my opinion) I have 18's and they look badass on my car. People notice it more too(I used to have 16's). Performance wise they might be a little heavier but they fit the car perfectly with no rubbing.:D
