zooming pass every one so i decide to follow it and
later getting panked by it on the straight way
i hit my redline and passed it
i forgot to shift, the engine made this noise then i shift to
forth,,,, my car runs fine, but i just want to know
if there is any engine damage after surpassing the redline

passed the 6800 rpm redline I take it? I do that all the time. Mine goes up to about 7300 rpm, and usually cuts off at about 7400rpm...of courset the tach is off. Did it just make the fuel cut off noise. Like a real quick and loud "Bobbbbaaahhhh-Bobbbbaaaaahhhh -Boobbbbbbaaaahhhh"

but fuel cutoff at such high rpm would not damage the engine right ?

nah, not as long as you don't do it all day every day. Try to make sure you don't do it too much. I was just saying I pass the 6800 rpm limit without hitting the rev limiter/fuel cut off. It will happen once and a while

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! don't get that!
Just learn to listen and feel how your car gets. I've learned that the car is about to hit the redline on how it sounds and feels just at redline...how it feels????: like it wants more rpms :( which I don't have for it.

I have a shift light, which really only comes into use when I have a hard time paying attention during autocrosses and drag racing

It's a small one, and very suttle

I've gone past fuel cut twice. Each time I heard a pop and the tach flew past the 8k mark, scared the crap outta me.:(

you'll be fine. if it was like a misshift and it went past 8k i'd be a lil more concerned

during the day, it's not that good for seeing. Could be how I mounted it though. I see if sometimes during the day, just depends. now if I'm looking striaght at it, yeah, I'll see it, but that defeats the purpose :D

I always thought it was more of a "bwawahwahwahwah"...and then going past the cut was more of "ba-WOOOOOOM". I've only gone past the cut twice because of that pesky ass 3-4 shift w/o a short shifter and racing, but everytime I did my car was fine, all though my pride wasn't :(
