View Full Version : Brought the EP home tonight... and cross shopped the P5.

Man, the Protege 5 is a flaming piece of shit! Even with $4500 off MSRP I still couldn't convince myself to buy it. MASSIVE body roll regardless of what the mag reviews say. NO GUTS, mile-long shift throws, rubbery shifter. Pffft. Zoom-Zoom my fucking ass.

I picked up my Vivid Blue '03 EP tonight for ~$1300 off invoice. Dealers aren't as willing to deal here in D/FW as other areas. Still, I think I got a helluva deal. I love this little car! Coming from a track-worthy 350 I thought I'd be less forgiving of the Si, but it does exactly what it's suppossed to do. Now the Z can become a garage/track queen and I'll have a load of fun in the Si as a daily driver. As soon as I unload a set of Z wheels, I plan on grabbing some 15x7s loaded with 225/50s and be done with it.

BTW, I stopped off at a fellow Z owner's house to show off the new toy and he was seriously jealous. He's got a modded Track model 350 as well as a 94 SE-R daily beater and wanted to run right out and grab an Si. It's just that cool of a car! :D

Its too bad that it is so weak... I really think that the body has alot of potential if given the right exterior mods and all.... Maybe a Mazdaspeed version?

I've test driven a P5 too! it's one damn slow 140hp car :(

in stock form the P5 is quite a sad car unless you throw in better set of shocks and springs. It has the potential:)

I dunno how tat thing can run a little faster tho, a K20A swap perhaps?:cool:

:D HA-HA!

I phukin' hate Mazdas! I don't know why all those car magazines say the P5 is so great... To me it seems underpowered, overweight, and gaudy. All that body cladding and the HUGE foglights make it look like a stupid Pontiac wannabe.

Give me a Matrix or better yet, an EP anyday!


BTW, nice Z! My brother's got a '90 in mint condition, that car still looks amazing, even thought it's 14 years old!:p
