View Full Version : My Accelerometer Is No Longer Ugly

I like my FX1 accelerometer, but the yellow is so unbelievably ugly. I put down a coat of flat black on it, it looks way better. Just thought those of you who have these would be interested in seeing what it looks like.

I actually just got it and haven't had a chance to find a nice even quarter mile stretch. I need to do some scouting.

I that like the G-Tech Pro?

Yeah, but it doesn't measure revs, just G forces.

i thought it was suppose to be mounted on the windshield?:o

It doesn't have to be mounted to the windshield, it just needs to be level vertically and in the middle of the car horizontally.

I know what buttons to push because there are only a couple of buttons on it. It's a very simple item to use.

Looks good, thats where mine is. I dont mind the yellow so much, but I might paint it anyways if I get bored.

Uhh, this is hard to explain, but, if you take the coiled wire, and pull it around the corner towards the passengers foot well, just on the inside of the plastic console there is a place you can hook it to, and it wont cover any of you controls anymore. Its like it was meant to be.

are they worth the $$?

Even though I found someone selling a G-tech pro for $30 a week after I got my FX1 for $119, I'd still say yes, its worth it.

You'll find its hard to find a flat spot where you can go both 60 and 0 miles an hour, and even harder to find a place to do a quarter mile. And I wouldnt recommend launching from redlights at intersections of course.

If you have a spot, take it out for a night, and you'll learn how to launch your car that night. That alone is worth it, but even after that, you'll get to see relative improvements on mods you make, and later gs if you auto-x.

On a side-note, this unit does not attempt to measure revs based on current fluctuations like the g-tech pro, but if you have grounding cables, the g-tech pro is unable to measure the revs anyways, since that current is leveled out.

Yep, and there's another make that is silver too. But the G-techs are available at Circuit City... (30-day return policy)

Has anyone from Virginia tried to buy one of these things? I went into Circuit City and dood was like ummm...radar detectors are illegal in Virginia. So I told him it wasnt a detector and he was like yeah but you still cant have those here. All I could do was give him my:rolleyes: face.

Sounds like a fun item to buy for a few days, practice your launch, and return.

Heh, I thought I might return mine (still can for a few days) but I like having it. Its just too fun, so Im keeping it. I think when I get around to installing a CAI, I'll do some intensive tesing...It always remembers your top 10 times until you clear it out. :D

I got mine so that I could see differences in changes that I make to my car. I should be able to find a flat 1/4 mile pretty easily within a fifteen minute drive or so, since I can be in the middle of nowhere in about that much time. Upstate NY is great.

I'll look for the place to hook the cable you speak of. I think I'm going to hardwire it, but I probably won't get around to it for a while.

Same here. Once you see the little peice where the cable just hooks on and is pulled neatly out of the way, you'll be so much happier with it till the time comes...
