Ok guys here are the pictures of the before and after of my type R style wing. I got this wing from spoilerdepot.com painted. I like it, it really brings out the lines in our cars.

Overall I like the wing. It makes a visual difference and the car deffiently looks much more sportier.

How was the fit and finish?

Some members have gotten wings that fit badly and had damage on them...

How was yours?

Beautiful! You're on the right track.

When the car was ported to America they shrunk the spoiler and expanded the bumper. This changes the car and definately takes away the sporty look. Slap some 15's on there with a 4" wheel gap and some big bumper reflectors and you've got a minivan.

However when you extend the spoiler and shrink the bumper, the car takes a smoother shape, the way the car was originally designed.

Do you plan on installing the JDM bumpers and side skirts?

Worse part about it... The JDM bumpers would be illegal in Nova Scotia! They would not pass our yearly saftey inspection.:(

i really want the type r wing bc the mugen style will messup if u adjust so if u want a mugen get the real one. type r dosnt matter only the flushness.i also want the jdm bumpers and this wing. will help my look alot.

So uhh..back on subject. How was the fitment? Did you need to trim anything? I'm seriously considering the spoilerdepot replica.

The fitment was very good, not 100% but very good. It sits about 1/6th of an inch above the roof but otherwise the screws and all went in fine.

The wing looks very good and the install was very easy. The only complicated thing about it is the drilling the hole for the light wires, other wise it's easy as 1-2-3.

i ment on the cf or painted mugen style the metal slider will scratch the paint/cf on inside the wing. but other wise that it is a good wing so whatever u want. u pay for what u get.

I got this wing since I think it's clean and not too extreme. I like the mugen but I think it's a bit too much for me since I haven't lowered my car or anything like that so it would look funny.

as for the mugen wing, you dont need to adjust it, there is no reason to...

yea! Fitted my Original Type R spoiler this w-end, had to do the mod, trim the extra screw holes off. Went on fine.

One question, did you fix/stick the bottom of the spoiler to the glass? or just pad it out with foam?

Mines flush, but when i shut the boot, it vibrates a little.

Gasp23

I didn't put anything at the end of the spoiler. mine vibrates to when shutting it down.

okay,

I think I'll take it off and put some sticky backed foam on the bottom edge, just to put my mind at ease:D

What did u do with your oem 3rd brake light?
Did you remove it or just left it there?
If you did remove it, What did you put there to cover the space?

I removed my 3rd brake light, put nothing in its place, you can't see it at all from the outside, only when you get up close and look in you can just see the space, but you really don't notice it.

How did it fit? Was everything alright with it or did you have to mod it in anyway?

Gasp23

No need to modify at all. Then only thing that you have to do is drill a 1/8th" in the hatch to make it possible for the wireing to go from the wing to the brake cables.

I also got the spoiledepot replica. Yours looks perfect!! It looks completely flush on the top and it has a nice gap with the hatch. Howd you do it!? Mine sits a little higher than the roof and the gap gets larger as it comes down the hatch window. Did you do anything that wasnt mentioned in the instructions?

just wondering, if the wing didnt have a 3rd brake light, would you be able to see the stock one?

just did my spoiler depot wing and have the same issue with fit. it goes out further as it descends the hatch and sits pretty high. I also had [the most frustrating time of my entire life] trying to fit the rubber seal in the 1/8" hole. I ended up drilling a slightly bigger hole, feeding the wires through and applying silicone gasket goo to the hole to seal it. It still looks 1000000X better than the oh so small stock wing and the color match it actually better...go figure...

another angle.....i definitely recomend the spoiler depot. I almost forgot though...they sent me generic spoiler instructions instead of the ones for our car, and didnt include the template...had to get it on line:(

I also did the same exact thing...had to print out the template and drill a bigger hole to fit the crappy grommet. After receiving some replies about it, I found that pulling off the velcro stuff on the hatch window helps a little. But it still does not fit too well...if I knew I would have gotten the renova.:(

yeah i just bought the type r wing from renova. its being shipped can't waint to get it. hopefully its a direct fit with little or no modificiations.

Yea, i got the renova auto one and did a test fit. It looked really good. Little issue with the bolt holes not lining up perfectly but with a little muscle it worked out just fine.

The fit was awesome, will be looking into some double sided sticky foam strips to attach it to the hatch window so it dosent bounce off the hatch window and will also keep it close to the glass for cleaner looking lines.

Overall i would highly reccomend this wing...

Mine is in the shop right now getting painted so I will post pics once it is installed. Should get it back on tuesday...

Joe :D

Here is the test fit....
