View Full Version : 16" Alloy Rims for '04?

Trolling around the varioius EP websites (both U.S. and British), I see there's a lot of speculation that the '04 EPs may come equipped with 16" alloy wheels. Anyone see something yet that you believe is confirmation of those rumors? Equally important, see anything to indicate whether they will be four- or five-bolt rims?

Hay Partner !

Are you getting anxious for a new suspension set-up?

Based on the pictures of the Euro Sport model, I would guess that the 2004 Si's will have 5 bolt wheels.

Morning, Spydur.

Yea, as you know I'm chomping at the bit to tinker w/Honda's OEM handiwork. Thought I'd check w/the EP-hatchers first to see where we are w/regard to 16" alloys, but I have a sense that most of those who log on here are interested in wheels much larger in diameter than 16 inches. (Do you think I ought to mention that increasing wheel-size diameter by going to a 17" or 18" wheel [usually] significantly increases unsprung weight and also increases [i.e. lengthens] acceleration times?)

Speaking of unsprung weight, unless you can pick up a good secondhand deal, aren't HONDA OEM wheels typically heavier than aftermarket wheels of the same size and price range?

Yes, Spyder,I know your right about OEM wheels and how much they weigh. I've thought about the alternatives, but with the quality of the roads in the Washington, DC area, you really have to pay attention to where you're driving on a set of lightweight alloys. At least with the factory alloys, durability isn't usually an issue. Were I going autocrossing, I'd almost certainly hunt for a lighter weight wheel if the class permitted it.

According to Motor Trend's New Car Guide the 2004 Si WILL get 16" wheels :)

I saw that too! If they're 4 lug I'll probably pick up a set...that is if they're not fugly.

Surprise: The other two websites I frequent regularly are www.vtec.net and www.civictype-r.co.uk. The latter, I believe, was the first site to post any information concerning the 16" alloys for '04. I think that's pretty much a done deal. The unanswered question is whether the 16" wheels will be four- or five-bolt.

Obviously, if the '04 rims are five-bolt, we are SOL. I, however, tend to think that Honda's going to four-bolt wheel because that's what Honda was taking to various auto shows over the summer, when they were pitching the so-called "Honda Factory Performance" (HFP) package.

There is a Honda meeting in San Diego the weekend starting on Friday the 19th. I'll be able to tell you all about the updated Si after that.

The euro sport model did come with 15 inch 4 lugs and will be upgraded to 16 inch 5 lugs for 04. Here's the pic

I might vote the '04 5-lug wheels amid the uggliest o.e. Honda wheels by far. They look common place on a Buick le Sabre though;)

That has got to be the ugliest Ep ever, Honda needs to hire some new designers. If they bring that thing over here to the U.S. sales will continue to drop.

Yeah...I hope they don't give us those wheels. They just need to upsize what we already have...and those headlights have gotta go!

Question answered: 16"/5-bolt alloys for '04. Also, we apparently get the CTR's lower-body cladding along the doorsills. Credit goes to vtec.net for the first photo post of the '04 Si.
