The side skirts are really nice. 5 lug? Who cares? It's just one more lug nut to remove (and replace) whenever you need to remove a wheel.

99.9% of EP3 owners will never exceed the power-handling of 4 lugs and there are *plenty* of 4 on 100 rims.

I think most people crave 5-lug because they associate it with more expensive cars, not for any objective reason.

I like the wheels... and the headlights might look halfway decent on my white Si. I don't have any problems with the car. Ever thought that maybe you guys are just a wee bit jealous that you bought the car when it was still ugly?

Not nearly as unfinished without those skirts. I always hated how our cars didn't come with skirts and you could see the body seam hanging 1" below the body. I plan on getting these skirts when the '04 parts are available.

i think that you guys might be forgetting something.. when and if these minor changes do come out like those ugly ass side skirts that they arent going to be free and knowing honda they are going to charge up the ass for those parts. the GFX kit that came out was sooooo overpriced its not even funny.. damn..

It's funny that a year ago, when I first found this forum, a lot of people talked about how ugly our lights were. And now, the new lights are uglier than ours. That must be pretty ugly then. I personally like the 02-03 lights as well as the 04 lights.

I think the skirts are tastefull. I would like to see them in person though before final judgement. Symmetry with the front and rear are what I'd be worried about.

You know what bugs me the most is that, since I've been visiting EPhatch, a lot of you guys have been bitching and moaning about hos you wished honda would change some of this stuff up about our cars... The skirts, the headlights, the wheels (for how long have I heard all this crap about people wanting 5 lugs). Now they're finally bringing this stuff in, and I seriously want to tell myself that you guys are just trying to play it off as ugly. At least then you'd have a reason to keep on bitching. The lights can be replaced, the wheels probably will anyways and this time it will be 5 lug, and the skirts will probably grow on you. You reming me of the old Si owners @ clubsi when the Ep first came into production. I guess you just cant please some people though.

I think current owners are trying to protect their investment when making these comments. Its not like Honda are trying to force the new car onto them. If you own an 02-03 car and don't like the 04 then you haven't lost out have you? The same comments are being made about the 04 civic everywhere (and practically all by owners of 02-03 cars).

Convince yourself that the 'newer version' sucks (even if it might be a better package overall) and you won't have to worry about owning the 'old' version :D

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Most people around here have been wanting a USDM Type R, not different head and tail lights. The criticizing you're hearing has nothing to do with insecurities. It comes from frustration from not getting what we truly want. Case in point: I bought my EP *after* I saw pictures of the '04 and found out we wouldn't be getting the CTR. In my opinion, the superficial changes on the '04 are worthy of all the derision they're getting.

the same reason we don't get the turn signal lights in our side mirrors. one would think Honda would give the US every possible feature since the "Si" is the ONLY hatchback model available. why not give us the projector headlights, mirror turn signals, etc? heck...give us the TYPE R already. after all, ALL these cars are manufactured in the SAME manufacturing plant. oh well, i guess giving us the watered down version of everything keeps American car designers in business. if Honda had given us the projector headlights then they would have had NOTHING to do.

I dont like the head and tail light changes, but I wouldn't mind the 5 lug wheels. If they didnt up the ante on the engine then it's nothing special in my eyes. They should have left the head and tails alone, went to a 5 lug and put more power in the engine. The look was already good the car just lacks power. If it has a k20A2 then it might be worth trading the 02.

I guess thats where things differ between markets. The civic will not be able to fight off competition (from Ford, Vauxhall/Opel, Renault, Peugeot, VW) who have all brought out new cars in the same sector since the EP, or will do in the next year). The mid term face lift is to attract new buyers rather than tempt current owners to trade their cars.

In the US/Canada the Si/R is the only civic hatch available so the market is a bit different. We get the 3 and 5 door in a variety of engine sizes so the market is much bigger. Could be why Honda US aren't bringing the whole '04 package (projectors, HID's, indicator mirrors etc).

The hatchback market has never been big in the US, even with it's current "resurgence". Most Americans would think it's ridiculous that Alfa can sell every 147 GTA they make for their $35,000 asking price. Instead of the CTR, we get the "sexier" RSX Type S and pay roughly what Brits pay for a CTR, but also get A/C, leather, cruise control, CD-changer, etc. That's stuff us fat Americans value: anything that can make our lives more comfortable so we can work harder to buy more stuff. Stiff suspension and big wheels? So I can spill my Big Gulp? Who needs that?
