I am planning on getting Eibach Sportlines on my 03 EP and torn between adjustable vs regular shocks on it.
Most of my driving is just everyday and I am not really planning racing.
I can't see spending $600-$700 on shocks, unless it is going to give me something amazing.
What are your opinions on regular (aftermarket) shocks with the Eibach springs?
Also what brand would everyone suggest?

Keep in mind I live in Illinois where the roads suck bad.

Thanks

Koni is the only one out there making them, and they have to be modified to fit. I have had the sportlines with stock shocks and it does alright. I just can't see paying that much money for something that will have to be modified to fit. Also, while I haven't researched this, I assume that if you mess up in the process of modifying them it is your own look out.

Springs+Konis doesn't make much sense when you can get Tein Basics for less than $700:

No modification required and you choose the ride height.

On Tein website they have an EP3 Listed.

http://www.tein.com/badamp.html

The bad part is they are not $770.00 more like $945.00

I did find them for $880.00

But are the Tein Basics any good?

honestly. i wouldnt even get koni yellow. i put it on my friends car. not worth your time or install money for koni yellow install. i would just wait for tokico or kyb to come out with cheaper shocks. i just cant see me spending 550 for koni yellow which needs modifications to make it fit on front. i had tein ss on my last ride. it was nice but very stiff. not faily comfortable as daily drive. tahts just me. right now i orderd springs. and i m planning to invest new shocks in spring or summer

What springs are you getting?

The Basics use the same springs as the SS coilovers. The only difference is the damper isn't adjustable, which isn't a big deal if you want to save some money. They'd be a better set-up than mixing and matching springs and shocks.

I have the Tein SS coilovers and just put 1300 miles on them in a one week road trip mostly through twisty mountain and coastal roads. Never did they make any weird noises or otherwise call attention to themselves. They are an excellent combination of ride quality and performance. Better than stock in both areas.

Me too. You set them once and forget them. If they came set from Tein somewhere in the middle, that would be good enough for me.

So what's the deal with the ebay price? Is it legit? $680 sounds good to me; $900 not so good.

The guy has good feedback and seems legit. Maybe the EP3 application is slightly higher in price. Email the guy and ask.

From every place I looked for the tein coilovers it always says either straight $900.00 or add $200.00 on to the regular price.
I would like to know why the EP3 are $200.00 more.
Is it just Tein taking advantage of the situation?

Regardless I plan on going ahead with the Tein Basic coilovers.
Thanks for everyones input.

Also a list of things to get with horsepower increase.
Tein Basic Coilovers = 25hp
Neuspeed Intake = 10hp
Big aluminium wing = 23hp
Clear tail lights = 3hp
12" Subwoofers point to the rear = 13hp - 20hp (only with metallica playing)
Blue LED windshield washer nozzles = 2 hp
Cast Steel wheels with Spinner Hubcaps = 5hp.

It should be a trailer park classic. :D
