Black 2003 EP3. I just brought it home last night. I have been trying to sell an R with no luck. So, I just went and traded it in at a friends dealership. I picked it up for $16,9 @1.9 financing
I will take pic's as things get done. Nothing much to look at yet. I only redded out the taillights. Not sure if I like it better or not. I have had ITR's, 00 SI's, and RSX-S's so I'll post comparisons and track times if anybody is interested. I will test this car mod for mod and see where it stands. What a blast to drive so far.......

Congrats on the EP3. There's quite a few of us (it seems) down
here in FL - one of these times we need to all meet up.
Will be interesting to see what you think of this car vs. your
other cars you've owned.

It is great to be here. Just got the windows tinted today and will look for wheels this week. I'm trying to find a good deal on a full R body kit. I'm leaning towards the JDM look. Any suggestions? Are the bumpers different? I thought I heard someone mention that. I would like to meet up with some of the South Florida crowd and even a bit North. For TrippZ- Yeah, I have been fortunate enough to own a few Honda's. I am going to do a thorough comparison once I run the EP3. It only has 132miles on it so I won't be going to the track this Wednesday. It feels good for about a 15.6 Thank you everyone for the hospitality.

To fit the honest-to-goodness JDM CTR lips & skirts, you need the JDM bumper covers and JDM (overseas spec) rebar pieces to go underneath. I think Showstoppers can get you everything you need, along with some other shops.

The US rebar is designed for higher impact speeds (can't really blame insurance companies for trying to keeping repair costs down.. after all, it comes out of their pockets too), and is too big to fit under the JDM bumper covers. I haven't done the conversion on my EP, but I can't imagine using the JDM covers without having some sort of protection under them.

So the JDM rebar must be lighter. Any idea by how much?

By the way, it sounds like there might be an insurance issue by replacing heavier bumpers with lighter ones.

BarracksSi

Don't know just how much lighter it is, but it doesn't protrude as far. Last time I remember reading anything about regulations, the US requires 5 MPH bumpers, but nearly all overseas markets require 2.5 MPH bumpers at most. It's not weight, but crush resistance, that's an issue.

I'm not sure how an insurance adjuster might judge things, but knowing how most companies think, they'll look for a reason to say that a modification raised repair costs, and would adjust their response accordingly. I can imagine that they wouldn't like a mod that doesn't meet NHTSA standards (for which they lobbied, too).

Haven't heard of anyone getting into such a situation yet, but I'm sure we'll hear about it when it happens.

congrates! on your purchase I had a 00 si before my 03 and test drove a 00 type r
last week and thought the 03 was better shifting, riding and nicer
all around save for the nice vtec pull from 4700 to 8400! do you feel the same way? I never got to make any hard turns in the R
but am sure it would be better than the Si too. I am planning on
getting a type R as a second car and would like to know what you
thought about the R all around? by the way the R I tested had
52000 miles on it. thanks for your reply.

vivid blue Si-Type-R's are great cars all around. They are very capable platforms. Mine made over 500hp and was stable at very high speeds 150+.......
As for the Si, what a blast to drive. I will be testing a few things on the car over the next few weeks. As it sits, it is quite fun to drive. I can't give any honest comparison yet, I only have 135 miles on it. If you have any questions about upgrades for the R, e-mail me anytime. dairman@adelphia.net

I love this thing. I just lowered it yesterday with Eibach Sportlines. It rides perfect and no problems with squeaks or rattles. It is just as smooth as stock until you get aggressive with it. I think this car has a lot of potential in every category. Everyone keeps asking me if I miss the Type-R, I just give them a big smile.................... Not even a little bit!

369 miles and counting.................

The only thing I don't like about the SI; IMO,

once you hit 3rd gear its like climbing a mountain, A nice long gear but i think it's where the car needs the most improvement, it's where the SI lacks, racing will show that.

But congrats on the new car, glad to see someone from the other camps has one now and can give a good overall comparision, i look forward to it, i might even air brush it on my hatch lid heh.

16.9 with tax or without?

Most-Wanted

16,9 included destination etc, but I had to pay for title work, transfer etc, fees........
No tax because of my trade in (ITR)
I was at their mercy because I couldn't get rid of the R. I got 15k for the R. Everywhere else wanted to give me between 9-11k. It is terrible to see the market plunge on ITR's. Trade-in values are expected to be poor, but even the public re-sale values have dissappeared. Oh well, I have what I want now and am loving every minute of it. I will never go back to the B-series.

I'd like to hear more about this 500HP ITR street car.
Any pics? List of mods? Video?

lasi02- I will take it to the drag strip. I am not sure at what level I will take it though. I will probably boost it at a moderate level and just have fun with this car on the street. It is tough to build a car with crazy boost and drive it everyday. Everytime I went to the track with the R I was always so worried about ripping the axles out of it. That makes for a long night. Been there, done that. I am impressed with the numbers from the SFP kit. We'll see!

Well, I can't give all my secrets away! But, I will show a few things. I worked with John Brown to build an extremely streetable car. I ran full exhaust, A/C, interior, power steering, etc. On street tires, low boost(12PSI) the car went consistent 12.20/12.30@120mph , boost at 19PSI w/ slicks 11.40 @125 and the motor handled 28-30 no problem. Here are a few pics. I am hoping to pick up some sponsors and maybe build the same for the EP3. For reference: the very first dyno pull was 477.1 HP and 330 TQ at 7600 rpms and only 21 PSI. If you want more info you can e-mail me so we don't bore everyone to death. dairman@adelphia.net

It keeps telling me the pics are too big. I will try to downsize and reload them.

That is a damn impressive FWD drag car. Real impressive. Much
respect for you.

Also, it's probably complaining that the pics are too big b/c you
are trying to upload/attach them. Try uploading them to a site
like imagestation or digitalpose.com and then linking them in
your post. If you need more info on how to do it, just post or
IM me. This way, you can put more than one pic in per post and
you won't clog up the sites bandwidth.

Congrats!!

I traded in my R as well. This car has more potential than the R did IMO. Wish I could have both tho!!

Tried making them smaller. If it doesn't work I will try to figure out imagestation.

this is the timeslip. Note the 60'. It is the same as stock. But then look at the mph. This was on street tires @ 13PSI

91.25 mph by the 1/8 dizam.

After you upload your pictures, go into the album. I think you
can just right click on them, and choose properties. Copy the
location into the post and surround it with {url}{/url} tags
(but use [] instead of {} ).
I'm fairly certain imagestation allows hotlinking...but they may
not. If you're having trouble, repost and I'll try it on my imagestation
site.

It's not url tags, but img tags. When I started linking pics, I used the IMG button just above the text field I'm typing in now.

When you do, though, you'll have to change the ImageStation URL just a bit. They add an extension to prevent hotlinking, and it's just .orig.jpg .

No matter which way you use to link the image, you'll have to go to the very end of the URL and delete the .orig.jpg part (so that the URL reads like, http://blah-blah-blah-blah.09823749812370.jpg).

I was having trouble with it until I found that very hint buried in another thread somewhere.
