www.optauto.com, www.jdmhondaparts.com, or check the list of body kits under the aerodynamics heading on the first page of the forum.

Type R bumper will not fit unless you remove or replace your rebar with the JDM one.

is the jdm rebar legal here in the states, it has to meet some impact rating, and i dont think they are big enough. anyone have a clue on this?

They're not legal, that's why our USDM rebars stick out so far. If they were legal I think Honda would've kept the same rebar on the USDM car as they have on the UK and Japan versions. :)

so basically the type-r body bumpers are not legal considering that they don't fit on the usdm rebar and the jdm rebar doesnt meet us crash impact standards.

wonder what ultramania did about his rebar situation, i know he's got a type-r kit on :)

I have the JDM front bumper too, so does Type X. I cut notches in the stock rebar and pushed it back, then shaved the ends so it would match the contour of the bumper. I think Type X removed his all together.

Is it really "Illegal" or is it just not up to US saftey spec. Car companies can't make cars that dont meet federal regulation and sell them to the public, but can't we modify our cars to a certain extent?

how much did you have to cut exactly? was it difficult cutting that rebar?

That's what I had to shave, the notches we made were about 2" deep.

Thanks! but removing the rebar is actually much easier:smilem:

It takes about 5 mins to remove the bar, and a couple hrs to shave it.
