Ok, I know they sell those octane boosters in the store. But in reality all they are a petroleum distillates with higher octane number than gasoline. Question is, has anyone try adding Toluene or Xylene to gasoline to boost octane number. Toluene has octane number of 115, I think. Xylene is even higher.
My main concern is that Toluene dissolves plastics, if the fuel pump, fuel filter and injectors have plastic parts they will be dissolved. There is a threshhold for the dissolution rate, and I assume that all those octane oosters are "watered" down toluene and xylene (can't use water as it will detonate).
