injen looks easier...plus you can actually see the injen cai in the engine bay...depends if you want it seen when you pop the hood...no clue about the performance, have you looked for a aem v2 cai, if it's made for the ep3...the aem is more common, therefore probably more likely to get jacked.

People actually jack intakes never heard of that! From my research aem is easier to install!

lol ppl jack ucerwear from clothes-lines lol
but yeah, I know the ricers in my area will jack different parts from different cars...intake from here, exaust from here, kit from there lol...my dad and I call them scrap cars/or mixed cars, when we see one, since they are made of scraps from other cars, or mixed matched cars.
GOOD thing is, most ep3 stuff doesn't get jacked...cause most ppl who would jack the parts don't have ep3's to put them on.

i read a how-to on a injen install and it said you had to take out the battery...also ive read on many forums that there is a chance of metal-to-metal contact which will most likely make a hole if rubbed over time...where as the AEM one goes under the battery and it has contact with plastic...and i have considered the V2 but AEM hasnt released it yet...and most likely its gonna cost ALOT....and until i see a dyno with AEM V2 vs. AEM CAI..and the V2 has better gains im not getting it

they are about the same install but the injen(can be fixed to not wear a hole in it) i put a weather striping thing so the intake rubs rubber not metal. the injen looks so hot when the hood is raised tho the AEM u cant even see it. if u want a badass lookin one do the injen. if u want time to spare i guess go with the aem. (look over easy is my way)

i know injen comes in black and polished finishes...does anyone have pics of both??

**edit: i just got a dyno graph for AEMs CAI...here is a comparason between AEM and Injen**

http://injen.com/webpages/testing/original_files/rd1575.jpg

http://aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-508%202002%20Civic%20SI%20CAS.pdf

on the AEM graph it says that it showed a gain of 4.5hp at 5500rpm
while on the injen graph at the top it says 6.93rpm...

my question is does that make a diff?

First off, thanks to JigGa man for delivering these dynos. I dont think the two dynos have EVER appeared together in a thread. http://ephatch.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

In my analysis of mods, I keep in mind that many experienced racers say that it is the torque curve that most accurately represents what would notice by the seat of your pants, and if that really is the case, then AEM (with 5.4 ft-lbs gained) has Injen (2.3 ft-lbs gained) beat by 3.1 ft-lbs more torque.

On the other hand, AEM's intake does show about a 1.75 ft-lb DROP in torque between 3100-3600 rpm, while injen stays pretty much dead even with stock at its lowest points.

Injen's avg torque gains: (2.3 ftlbs gained - 0 ftlbs lost) /2 = 1.15
AEM's avg torque gains: (5.4 ftlbs gained - 1.75 ftlbs lost) /2 = 1.825
They seem pretty even in the torque dept, dont they, but that's oversimplifying things.

I think if you drag-race, you'd probably never let your revs get down to the 3100-3600 range when you are going down the strip. But if you autocross, you probably will hit that range at one point in almost every event.

SO what is my conclusion after all this analysis (which, surprisingly has nothing to do with horsepower) ?

AS A SINGLE MOD:

AEM = somewhat better performance for 1/4 mile racing

Injen = somewhat better for autocross and daily driving

BUT
In my opinion, as a SINGLE mod, neither show enough aggregate torque gains to be worth their price unless you are buying it for less than half retail.

Thats just as a single mod. Consider that an intake is an integral part in a full I/H/M/E setup that can add up to more gains than the sum of its parts, so if you plan to build the whole deal, an intake is a necessary and good thing. You can complement either intake with a header/midpipe/exhaust that matches its strengths and shortcomings, as long as you do your homework and know what you want ultimately.

This is just my common-sense analysis of the dyno charts shown, and just my humble opinion. The only thing I know firsthand is that the both intakes sound equally good, the injen looks flashier, and the AEM is virtually hidden from view.
